Does anyone know if there is a motorcycle cult? If not, would any one be interested if i started one?

NS shuold have orange county biker dudes make us one specially designed bike to fit NS's style.

something dope like that

then we could watch the episode and watch how much the father and the idiot son argue.

well my comment was sarcastic; but how big are you? I started off on an old 600 and since it was old, didn't have the power a new 600 does; made it a perfect starting bike (I took the msf on a 250 though).

and do you plan on racing? if not, there's no great reason to own a liter bike. A 600 will go just about as fast (not like you'll need to go 170 mph anyways), it just takes a little longer. A new 600 is too fast a bike for most people (that don't race) as it is.

im not going to race, i will probaly get some shitbox bike for under 1k ride it for a while. then upgrade to a brand new 1000. myabe a 600(r6 or gsxr 600) i would prefer a 1000 though

Why though? just the name? You'll be wasting money (imo) on the bike itself and insurance, and you'll never use it to it's potential. Very rarely will somebody even use a 600 (off track) to it's potential. Just letting ya know, but do what you will.

just look at the 0-60 time differences between an R1 and R6. its like a wrx vs an sti. i mean i would be very happy with a 600 though.

I have an 04 Kawi 636 with akropovic pipe and I run that thing to it's fullest on the street all the time. From Vancouver to whistler in 45 mins. I've done it in my car in 50 mins with a stop for red bull at the 7 11 in squamish. But my car isn't exactly a slouch either.

Before some of the most recent road changes as well. If I were to buy a new bike it would still be another 600. The litre bikes are just too much. They are heavier and more cumbersome. If you live near a track that is at all tight then you will hate your litre bike there. Plus, there just isn't any need to be going any faster than you can get a new 600 R bike from any company. It's beyond completely unneccessary.

send me one too! ^ that is a beautiful bike!! one of my faves along with the buells. i've got a BMW F650 GS Dakar and i love it!

Cant beat the flick-ability of a 6 on the track. I perfer a 600 over a 1k on the track, but thats just me.

As for no need for liter bike on the street, I have to disagree. If you ride 2-up you know what Im saying. Oh and wheelies are easier to clutch up too. :)

Hey, for a guy that has never ridden a road bike before (just some dirt), should I get a starter bike? or should i just say "fuck it" and buy a good new/used 600 that will last me?

the kid's not gona be racing, it won't matter if he could get from 0-60 in .4 less seconds.

And to the kid below you who has the kawi, You're probably one of the few who actually uses it to it's potential. Most people on the streets aren't going to use the powerband in a bike properly, because they won't need to make it to 120 mph in 4th gear (not exact numbers, just an example).

if you can handle a dirtbike (assuming it's a 125 or 250), If you're cautious on a new 600 or you get an earlier model 600, you should be fine. 2 years ago (after riding for one year on my 550) I rode my buddy's speed four and I didn't have any problems because I was cautious.

But about the liter bikes, I would LOVE a liter bike for highway trips because my 550 is too damn light and I get thrown around on heavy air days.

actually, I take that back. I'd never buy a liter bike and don't want a sport bike at all, but if I was forced to ride a sportbike on the highway, it'd be a liter bike.

ewww good god no...don't ever get an enduro.

And to the person who has ridden dirtbikes and asking about getting a first street bike. I think you should be fine getting an R bike at first if you are able to hold back from getting throttle happy...but if your not. I wouldn't start out with an R bike. Suzuki SV is widely accepted as the perfect starter bike...and I guarantee you'd have a lot of fun on it.

Riding a motorcycle on the street is completely different then just driving a car, no matter what it is your riding. It's not always 100% about the speed of the bike. You become part of a gigantic group of people that for the most part have the utmost respect for eachother. You can absorb so much more about your surroundings...it's really pretty amazing.

^ why no enduro? thats what i've got and have never had any problems with it. my tires aren't that nobby to where they would be terrible on the road

I'm pretty sure I'd be throttle happy, do a wheelie, lose it and have myself thrown to the pavement while the bike is hurtled into an oncoming car.

my dads buddy has that duc 749 that was pictured. It is so bad ass! I ride a bmw r1100rs. Please dont take this the wrong way guys, but just talking about the size of the motor and 0-60 times is not what it is about. You need to get out and ride different bikes and determine what your riding style is and what you want it for. Personally I could buy a r6 or r1 or a hondakawasuzuki equivalent but being able to load up and go for a multi day trip while still ripping through the corners at insane speeds is much more important to me than having bragging rights about having a "faster" bike. As they say "its the indian not the arrow" meaning the bike doesn't mean shit its the rider. I am not trying to piss anyone off, just giving another perspective on the subject.

I love the beamer you have; I'd love a bmw, but I can't reach on any of them (i have pigmy legs). My town just held the MOA BMW rally and there were 7,000 or so of them around town all weekend.

also on public roadways many times a bigger displacement engine is better because you have more torque to pull through corners, whereas the 600 sportbikes have to be wound up more. I realized this too with dirtbiking. A 125 2 stroke is still super fast but for the trail riding I was doing my ktm 450 4 stroke was a much better machine. It had the torque while rippin through the mud and up hills, plus the power band is wider, less finicky and requires much few gear changes.

also, dont rag on the chick for riding an enduro, in many cases enduros are awesome. You can get to remote areas and still hop on the slab to cover distance. A friend of mine went to a local track day and was beating many 600 sportbikes and duc's on a bmwr1150gs, which is a big enduro. Plus the guy had the stock tires and his adventure side cases mounted on the bike. In the straight he obviously lagged do to airdynamics (he kept it around 135 mph) but in the corners he made up for it.

hey man my dad and I both have the same issue. I am 5'9" my dad's 5'5". On most BMW's the seat has three positions. Also you can have the suspension lowered about an inch. We had to do all this on our ktm 450 which was still way to tall, but it doesn't matter as much on a dirtbike. It had about a 38 inch seat height. The nice thing with bmw's is you can test ride any of them if you have your endorsement, unlike many of the japanese companies. Also, the insurance is dirt cheap because more responsible people ride them. Mine is about 500 a year, full coverage and i'm 18 with a ticket. If I could have a different bike I would probably get a r1100s, its a little more sporty, and tuned up a little more from the r1100rs I have.

whooaa, I didn't know that about the seat positions. There's a BMW dealer up the road and I have my license; I'll have to check them out.

not to be a downer, but I saw one of those this weekend at the Stowe Notch, but it had crashed and since no cells would work up there, I had to ride down to Stowe to get a cop and call 911. Fucked up situation.

But sick bike, I'd like to ride one.

yeah its basically the same motor as I have except tuned for a little more power, and the seating position is much more agressive. I actually have a pretty kick ass ohlins suspension on the rs so it rides very sporty. On long trips the rs is a much better machine. Before I had it my dad rode it MI to CO, about 750 mile days, riding through CO and UT. It is great for sport touring. my battery is at 1% on my mac book so peace.

couple better shots I just took in the garage. The red in sunlight isn't that orangy, its just the artificial light in the garage that makes it look weird
