I'm sitting here at a friends house, all of us are NS member, and we are talking about NS... and I realize, a lot of people have taken this site way too seriously. It's seriously become some people's life. And thats not good at all. I have nothing against community or becoming friends on the site at all. But having it become your life? I mean, thats just sad. I know I have been around for awhile here, and that sometimes I seem like im really into it. But 99% of the time, I am kidding around. This site has totally pissed me off in the last couple weeks, The community feeling it used to have has all but dissappeared for me. I doubt I really want to continue posting here. Everything has turned into bashing. People posting stupid shit like mastubation threads and such. What happened to the fun threads we used to have? Everyone has turned against each other. And then I see the people that take it waaaaay too seriously, like its personal or something

Well, my point is, I'm basically gone from posting, im still gonna be around the site, and I'm going to reply to things that concern me, and my friends know where to reach me. But I don't want to turn into some kind of nut who thinks its his life.

Well... this may not turn out, mabye ill stay active, i just dont know, im tired as hell right now, but I wanted to make a point.

The recent activity is just a phase that will pass.

There is one thing I've been thinking about forums in general. They can either motivate you to go ski/bike/whatever, or they can keep you addicted to the computer.

 
I can't speak for you, but I think that the last two days have shown a pretty big improvement in the site. I feel like things are gonna be better, especially if mods keep their promise to communicate.

I understand what you're saying about NS becoming your life, but I don't think that should stop you from posting. Perhaps just draw a line between NS and your real life. I think what I'm trying to say is DON'T LEAVE! I'LL MISS YOU TOO MUCH!

 
I agree with ya Rebel, this site has been awesome over the last couple of days. It always goes through phases like that.

Andy. I see what you're saying but dude, you love NS, you enjoy it, you get pissed at it and you like it again. You've told me before that you hate it and want to leave but bro, it is a big part of your life, it's a big part of my life. My friends are here, your friends are here. You say that it takes up a lot of your time and stuff but you're sposed to spend your time doing the things you like and from my angle you love NS.com, why throw away the thing that you love to do and the people that you love?? it's almost like there was a big build up of tension that just sorta got released in the whole racers thing and now everything is back to normal. And i think a lot of people are happy because it's the holiday weekend too :-)

make some new posts up. talk about some good fun things. we are all still friends here... so post under the good treads - and if there arent any, make some up, and don't post under the shitty ones - no mater how mad they make you.... and they will go down the page and away. so yea.

I say that noone should post in this thread - because it anoys the shit outa me. and make it go away. start posting some real threads and stop knocking newschoolers. it is still good. later

yeah, I find the need to grow apart from newschoolers.com. Over the next few weeks I am definately cutting down, it shouldn't be too hard, recently the only thing keeping my on here is the SSE, but now that I have a wooping total of $1.14 (not a typo, I have one dollar and 14 cents) I feel no real urge to come on. I'm sure I will check the forums sometimes but not nearly as much as before. So for now. Later all.

anyways, the thing thats really bugging me I guess is that it took all of us like 6-7 months to get to 1000, (with some execptions of course) and now I see kids getting 1000 posts in like a month because all they do is reply to posts with a simple 'Yes' or 'No'.. why can't they be a bit constructive, and not post for the sake of posting...

Well I really enjoy this site. It has only deepened my passion for skiing. Andy, it is up to you, but I think you should stay around. Things are back to normal, all the fighting has stopped and its just normal ns.com fun again. I think it is stupid you are leaving because there was a bad time at ns.com, that is the great thing about this site, there are ups and downs, just like real life, except you get to share the experience with all your skiing buddies. This site has become a way of life for many of us, but what is wrong with that? Its just a computer/skiing activity, it is something we all like to do. Thats why we are all here, we love it so we make it part of our lives. Andy, I hope you don't leave, and If you do i'm sure we will all miss you!

Hehe. j/k. I think it's kinda cool to have close friends here. It's like I could go all the way to NZ and I know I would have someone to show me around and perhaps a place to stay if I needed. Just look at all the people in Whistler for the summer. I know a lot of them met through the site.
