alright well this is importent so im gonna haveto revele the prize. first person to give me the theme and a thesis on how the theme is reveled through the story get a coppy of long story short

so there you have it. common ppl

i think that the theme is hypocrisy and punishing someone because of someone else's actions.

for the thesis, talk about how the womans anger at herself for not acting, and at the man, played through to her anger at her husband and child.

i dunno, my brain is pretty fried, if that is total bullshit just disregard it.

i think that the theme is being stubborn ( kid who threw sand and his father). and the self ritousness ( the man who was reading time magazine thought himself superior to the other man, and him being a hard ass to his kid)

the thesis should be about how the kid didnt even want to leave the park, but the parents got in an argument about the kids.

i dont know.... do i get a prize?

just so you know, thats coming from an honors junior english student, so you should give me a prize because its good

um, i dont think you're going to get anything worth a grade off NS. nice try, but any english teacher im sure wont accept some short two sentence of the theme and a thesis. not happenin man...the best way to go is really think about what u think it is and write AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. go into extreme detail and thatll fill up space as well convinve him/her better. if its wrong, then argue your point and maybe get half credit. you can never go wrong with what YOU believe. jus do it!

im grade 12 sumerschool we did the same thing, a unit on themes of short stories. We read 6, and that wasnt one of them, if it was i could have been more then an asset to you, however i dont have the time to read that whole story to help you out. I know the unit wasnt hard at all, and the theme should be fairly obvious, there are always tones of themes, as long as you can explain one well then you are not incorrect. The fact there can be a "main theme" labeled is because it is going to be the theme with the most obvious support behind it - therefore making a essay the easiest to write, findind another thing only means more work.
