Rage Against the Machine

Some Metalica

Kickstart my heart or Livewire by motley crue

and if you are depressed try Journey

I remember trying to get myself motivated to get some summer miles in back in hs. Try and find the hottest chick on your team who is moderatly fast and run with her. You guys probably won't go to far but at least you get to chat her up. That will get to started into the swing of running. Then get some of your buds together and go for a good run and maybe play some ultimate afterwards. Thats what we used to do at least.
Now I'm a lazy shit in college who only gets cardio through one day of lacrosse a week.

grab some five fingers and hit the trails. way better than running in a stupid neighborhood or some shit.

does your school not have summer practice? when I was in HS my xc team had summer practice so we ran with the team 4 times a week and then on the off days we were on our own. that helped me

haha story of my lifeee all four summers in hs. fucking hated it and by middle season when i was in a decent stop. BOOM. stress fracture.

but this was my song lol

Cross training!!!At this point you want low impact and fitness building workouts - getting used to running's movements and figuring out pacing can come later. For now try to get some variation so you don't burn out mid season. Head to the swimming pool, swim some lengths- you get a good workout and see cute girls in bikinis. Go for long bike rides - try to find cool new places that are too far away to reach on foot or head into the trails. Go hiking or scrambling in the mountains.

That was supposed to be more of a prove me wrong type motivation, I wasn't trying to be an asshole

You CAN do it, prove it to yourself and everyone else

just think its all your own benefit. once you start to see results thats also a big motivation.

1.Find hot girl(s) to run with

2.Try and go running at least 3 times a week with said girl(s)

3.?????

4.profit(x2 if you played your cards right)

Running is addictive, proven fact, just try and get into it sooner than later and it wont be such a hassle. Keeping in shape can be easy, but you still gotta work for it.

alright i'll give you some serious answers here. i've been erging all summer (if you don't know what it is, it's indoor rowing, so sitting on a painful machine for extended periods of time hurting yourself), and i've been struggling all summer to find the motivation to finish pieces. i'm training to lower my 2k time so i can get into college, so i have some natural motivation, but it's still hard to keep going.

1. don't overanalyze anything. if you go out and have a shitty session, you're just having a shitty day. the more you think about how bad you are, the worse you become

2. don't think about being tired. straightforward, once you drift that way, you have become a victim instead of in charge

3. pain will come, it's natural, it's gonna happen, learn to live with it...everything ends eventually

4. don't think about the end, that'll make it long

if you're having trouble just motivating yourself to leave the house, just think about how much better you'll feel after and don't second guess your choices. play call of duty and jack off at night when you can't run, daytime is for being outside, use it well, just get out there the first few times and you'll get into it

Music that works for me:

Ellie Goulding- Starry Eyed (Velo's Wild Eyed Edit)

Bloody Beetroots- Butter, Cornelius

La Roux- In for the Kill

Rage against the Machine- Killing in the name of

Amon Amarth- Cry of the Blackbirds

Annie- Anthonio Designer Drugs Remix

Phoenix- Lasso

I like those songs on the erg, maybe it's just me but they work. also eat well beforehand, even for a short workout, it'll make a HUGE difference even if you don't think it will

tthis^ plus

find a running partner

run at the coolest time of your day

build a summer set up and ski for hours and you will gget into better shhape

smoke blunts

dude xc is fucking horrible. I did it for a season,, never understood it. "run for fun", fuck that running isnt fun, its almost never fun unless your running from something.
I got it, go fucking rob someplace. or throw something at a cop car

Go to a gymnatics gym and do flips on the spring board.. but make sure to steeze them out because afterbang burns 4X the callories. Or go paintballing, that wears you out. Working out/training can be super fun if you do something you like.

just gotta get going at it. pop in some dope tunes and just get at it. the first week is a little hard, but then it becomes a routine and you stick to it.
it's usually only the first week or so for me that is rough, then it doesn't seem like an "uggggh, i gotta go run.", but more of a "cool, let's go do this."

went out on an easy 6 miles yesterday, not too bad for first run of the summer haha thanks for the help any more would be much appreciated

Man summer training is my favorite part of the year, but this video always gets me pumped.

Track and Field Videos on Flotrack

The greatest thing about running is you get out of it what you put in. If you work hard this summer, you will improve. Unless of course you become injured. Just get out the door, that's the hardest part.

Lots of 8bit music. It's repetitive, with a really fast beat. So you can just turn on, tune in, zone out. It's amazing for focus and motivation.

I love this commercial...great motivator
