NS I need help getting money from a friend.

Alright so a few months ago I was driving my friend to the bus stop so that he could head back to college. He was not feeling too well and on the way down puked out the side of my car, and got puke all on the side. So he had no money on him to pay for a car wash, so he said he would pay me later. Here we are 4 months later and he won 250 bucks doing something. So when he told me I said oh you should have no problem paying my back my 9 dollars for the car wash you owe me. He says "oh okay I have a free car wash coupon" dated a year ago from a fundraiser we did for our class. (It's still good by the way). But the thing is I don't want a free car wash coupon now, I want to be reimburse for the car wash I had to pay for months back. Hes saying that he owes me a car wash, and I say I want the money because the car wash has already been paid for.

The thing about the coupon though is that as a class we all got them for free, and had to sell them. So if he gives me the coupon nothing is coming out of his pocket. I had to pay for that car wash out of my pocket.

So what is your opinion NS? Should he give me the coupon and I be happy, or should he give me the 9 dollars?
