I was just wonderin if there's a way to take music on my current ipod, and put it on my computer's itunes (which currently has no songs on it). i want this computer to be my main itunes storage and put new music on my ipod but if i plug my ipod into it, it will reset all the songs.

I've searched and i've seen all the programs that claim, but they seem sketchy.

+k for good answers

just a side note. my ipod is old as shit.. it's like the 3rd gen from 2002 or something.. with 4 buttons on top that are touch

wow, thats amazing your ipod still works. Anyways what I've done with all my ipods is adjust the settings to manually manage the music. Unfortunately you're going to have to plug your ipod into a computer to switch it to this setting but i don't think that it will erase all your songs when you do plug it in.

if you have all downloaded or songs from cd's then you can download some sort of software off line (not quite sure what it is), and it lets you convert them over. im pretty sure songs bought from itunes cant be transferred. that's all i know, hope it helps.

youtbe this. you will get tons of videos explaining how. yes it is possible. folder options and show hidden folders then ipod control then copying all the folders to hard drive.. etc.. you will find out how in youtube vids

i have used the program senuti. im on a mac and not sure if its a pc program as well, but i quick search on google should solve that question

dont do this, i dont know if anyone else has had any luck with it but i have not. its a pain in the cunt to copy all the songs over. it took me quite a while and i had like 6,000 songs. and then the next day none of the songs worked.

It's a pretty simple process.

Copied/Pasted:

1. Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.

2. In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.

3. In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders."

4. Navigate to the Music folder. On my 2nd gen 'pod, the full path is

Portable Media Devices\GINA's IPOD (F:)\iPod_Control\Music

5. Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.

If all of your songs ar epurchased then when you plug it in it will say would you like to transfer purchases then say yes

also, any songs that have been purchased from itunes can be transferred by going to the ipod on itunes, and then clicking transfer purchases i think, i dont remember exactly how, but ive done it a few times with older ipods/older itunes

I had music on my ipod touch that i didn't have on my itunes because of a reformat and this software worked perfectly. Very easy to use and i'm pretty sure it works with all ipods.

You might have to install the .NET v2.0 framework to make it run though...which is a simple download/install from the Microsoft website.
