Wondering if anybody has experience buying a refurbed Macbook - is it a good idea/deal? Does anybody have a Macbook (or Pro) and are there features I should be trying to find one with, and other features that may be unnecesary and not worth paying for? FYI I will not be video editing or mixing music on it....

Thanks! any info/advice/suggestions are appreciated.

I am pretty sure its a good deal, if you get it from apple it comes with their warranty etc... I don't know anyone that's done it though.

refurbs are a good deal, they should be every bit as good as a new one, they go through all the parts and make sure they work correctly and such

i recently just bought a refurbished Macbook Pro and its worked out absolutely great for me. but one trick is when your on there website (www.apple.com) look for the educational discount column, it will save you a substantial amount of money.
I use Final Cut Express which is a great program and it comes with Livetype which is awesome. so i'd recommend to get that for an editing program. I am not sure about a mixing program, but i will do some research and get back to you about it

I bought a black refurbished macbook in 2007 and it's going strong. I would say definitely get the refurbished, it is brand new, really the only difference is it has been returned for some reason and Apple turns it into brand new again. Save yourself some bucks and buy a case and upgrade the memory or something. The only problem I have had with mine is the corner in the right has cracked but I think a LOT of people have had this problem and they cover it under warranty. Shouldn't have to worry with the aluminum casing.

check the cost of a replacement battery because often refurbed notebooks don't hold the best charge
