Seriously....I wasn't here from the start, but I was pretty damn close....a lot of people don't know me, cuz I don't post all of the time. But I have been around for a while, and what the hell has happened? All that Newschoolers consists of now is a bunch of hyped up little adolescent bitches wanting to get on here and talk shit about a bunch of stuff they have no idea about. It has become like an Entertainment Tonight, except instead of movie stars and celebrities, everyone wants to gossip and talk shit about either other people on this site or professional skiers and their every day lives, habits, attitudes, clothes, and personality. It is a bunch of bullshit. Who cares about all of that? I think that I have pretty much decided that I am no longer going to subscribe to any more magazines or get on any more skiing websites.....I will just watch the movies every year to see how sick skiing is getting and I won't have to worry about all of the stupid mainstream disposable horseshit that comes along with freeskiing's rising popularity. Fuck what it has become. Who gives a damn what you are gonna wear next season, who has what skis, and who uses poles when they ride? Fuck all of you, shut up and ski.

i agree there is alot of garbage but there is also alot of good stuff and if you know what to look at then you can skip alot of junk, most of the post i look at are from people that i know won't be posting alot of stupid shit. if you try a little bit most of the bad can be ignored.

Its so much different now. Like you said, its more like an Entertainment tonight. Which is kinda cool sometimes because you don't get to see or hear about alot of stuff any other way. Plus the videos are cool, and once in a while there's a good thread or two.

Its so different from back in the day when you pretty much knew of everyone on the site, and probably half of their names, but thats all it is: different. Good and bad things have come from it.

"Entertainment tonight" is exactly what this site has become. i've posted on the degression of NS along time ago durrrin the start of the newb wave and left the site for a while too, but this now it's just getting fucking stupid. good luck to you man i'll be joining the ranks of the retired NS members when it come time for the season, i'm actually going to be doing something most these kids just type about all winter, skiing everyday.

agreed. i almost never post in the ski/non-ski gabber cause of it, just stick to the cults mostly now. as member number 170, its definately i think i have seen just about as much of a change as those who first built this site and were from the beginning and at this rate, with shit talking getting into the cults and all i might be done with this as well

these threads come up a lot and most people agree with what your saying. but forsure a lot of people that have posted say yeah for sure have def. dissed kids on this site. i know i do once in a while. its just cuz it gets stupid seeing the same posts three times on the first page.

these threads wont change anything about the site at all. im starting to go to freeskier a lot more now. i miss harvey

 
it's bevcoming a different site. back in the day, it used to be a place where literally everyone knew each other by name, and we'd talk about everything skiing related. I remember once when we saw a skier in a duracell commercial do a mute grab, we were so stoked on it.

But the site grew, and it has changed. It's still growing, and it's still changing. Ya, it's become a place where kids tal shit and whatnot, and that sucks, but we can't really do anything about it without seriously limiting freedom of speech. So ya, the site may be full of shit talkers and what not, but it's become much MUCH more of a staple in the world of freeskiing, which is awesome.

alot of the OG have said this about the site. and i can tell from how it is now that it must have been alot better before. you can't even post a video without someone bashing it.

and while NS has some notoriety in the skiing world as i can assume, it nonetheless is a website that you can not visit. i find it very informative, and you can weed through the morons to get to the info you need. it must have been faster "back in the day" to get your info, but you still get it here.

like melvs said, this site is apparently changing. and i for one would rather see 60 000 people who all have something in common and discuss it freely than 2000 in their own little recluse niche.

i guess i agree with what you said, but it is possible to not take it so much to heart. embrace the fact that the sport is growing, and isn't reserved to a select few as before. the new blood is what keeps it going, and keeps this sport at the level of progression that it has been seeing.

I had some account on here that i made back in 2001 but i don't even remember the name, i wasn't on much. But i remember thinking, this is a sweet place because every seems to know everyone. Well shit happens man, and yes this type of thread has been posted before, and yes.. you are being hypocritical especially with that last post about peoples member numbers etc. but who cares, right? I'm just peeling through the old threads trying to figure out what's been going on with this site over the last couple years. I've been on and off every now and then lately, but i only just realized that NS is more like a corporation then some guy tapping away in ottawa. Since it's late...is harvey still running the show here? He's not under contact us anymore...there's a prez and a vp of sales...and tech guy..paid positions on NS now?

Oh well, threads about the fall of quality threads has been going on for 3 years now. It was nice to see some of the old guard posting in Rebels wedding announcement thread for phattsarah.

Anyways, sorry for pulling up this old depressing thread, it's late and i felt like adding something.
