NS gets custom with Google

Can you still search with in NS or is it all linked to google search? maybe the search is getting better cuz you know the n$ bank account is...

 
it is a disgrace to the searchbar. I think NS i think searchbar, they go hand in hand. I mean "advanced searchbar"?. doesnt work

 
yeah but it works wayyyy better now, type in one word from the title of a thread and you'll get it, you dont have to be 100% accurate any more, plus im pretty sure theres more than 50 results
 
hell no it doesn't its so hard to read what the results are all it says is Newschoolers.com blah blah blah. old one is much easier
 
I think you should all quit yer bitching and head over to site discussion. This is where the updates to the SITE are DISCUSSED. And there, if you are able read, you will find answers to why it currently sucks so much. And how one click will allow you to use the old one.

im sorry NS, i am glad to see ads b/c this means you and we are getting proper respect as a whole...and that is how biz works...and keeps this site fresh...

but this new search is really shit. if i/we want a google search i/we will go to google. a huge part of this sites success is b/c you can come here and search strictly ski shit related.

sorry, if i am missing something or a new update fill me in.

I'm on the fence here...

The old searchbar was fucking TERRIBLE. You couldn't find anything.

The Google Search is better at finding the key words, but unfortunately it scans the whole site, instead of just the forums, and the description is very short.

Still though, it is better at finding relevant info than the old searchbar.
 
ONe day maybe we will be more helpful and provide a link to what people should read first.

If my dumbass has no clue as to what you are talking about... Read what, where?

Argh... hah yeah the new google searchbar needs the site to get re-indexed before it'll be super helpful. The old one is garbage too, we really just tried the google one so we could hopefully improve it in light of not enough coding time to improve it to what it should be.

We should give it a try for a few weeks, and if it really is super horrible, we can always just go back to the old one easily. As everyone said though, the old one is available through "advanced search".

Please keep the feedback coming, this was just the first of a round of changes so the more feedback the merrier!

 
Well, the old onbe was too vague, and the new google one is too precise in that it finds anything with the word in it, even profiles, and signatures.

We need a happy medium, if that is even possible.
 
Hah, yeah. That's what needs to be fixed up (as Mr. Bishop stated...yes I have read the whole thread). It doesn't just search the forums, it searches basically everything on NS, news, reviews, etc. Like if I type in "Sammy Carlson" all of the links that come up will probably be from competitions results, news updates, film updates, etc.
