NS, define hipster please

highschool hipster: people who strive to be diferent and wear flanles, skate shoes and sunglasses just to stand out, they always have a diferent opinion than yours just because they think that it makes them better than you. also try to find all the new music

i can tell you're hipster. how do i know?

by your vague response that suggests you have more knowledge on the matter than anyone else without implicitly saying why.

just because someone wears trendy hipster glasses doesn't mean their hipsters. some of those people on that website are major emos, or just douche bags. but it's mostly hipsters.

what the hell is a chad??

I also used to live in brighton and then in allston right near the great scott..unreal the amount of hipster douche bags I ran into every single day

if you have an ironic mustache and worship animal collective, you equals hipster. if you ride a fixed gear bike with really tight pants a puffy vest and buddy holly glasses, you equals hipster

Those are hipPIES, not hipSTERS. Although, I guess most hipsters would be proud if someone thought they were a hippie, since that's the look they are going for, right? Fuck, I don't know.

I don't mind a lot of the people who dress in a reasonably 'hipster' way( i don't usually judge by appearance) but what I can't stand is the proper hipsters with the ridiculous attitude/personality.

I think the word "hipster" is thrown around way too much these days. I don't think anyone who's into the arts and might dress "indie" is automatically a hipster.

To me, it's all about the attitude, and the wardrobe/trends that everyone focuses on follow that. It's a value on details that most people think aren't significant, and a sense of superiority because they have that value in those things (environmental issues, obscure art, independent music, etc.). They need to be seen with this value, so others in that same group accept them and they have a place to belong. But because most people don't share or understand this value, they are labelled as hipsters. The problem often comes when the hipsters themselves don't understand why they have that value and are just doing it for the trendy factor that comes with it.

To be honest, I dislike most of the people who hate hipsters more than the people being labelled as hipsters. Does this make me one?

On a kinda related note, skiers share so many qualities with hipsters. Huge value in style/clothing/gear, but focused on what others think of our stuff instead of doing it for personal reasons/expression. Wearing things that make the majority of people think we look retarded, but we think we look "steezier" than they are and are better as a result. Basically the exact hipster mentality, and I admit I used to share it.

I won't lie, I have jazz radio playing all the time in my room. But usually it just aids in seducing women by creating a false element of class.

I know the definition, but it's super obscure and you've probably never heard of it.

BTW I was hipster before being hipster was cool.

BUT I'm too hipster to give a shit so fuck that.

But seriously stop stealing my shit,

My friend's and I joke around about stuff being hipster. Whatever isn't mainstream is hipsterish.

In one of my classes, there are 2 super hipster girls. They openly admitted they shop at a thrift store. They wear vintage/old clothing. They look bad on purpose. They are super fucking hipster.

Myself personally, I have been called a hipster a few times, but I don't think I'd consider myself being a hipster.
