NS CALLOUT

So i noticed this last year, and i can already tell that it will be a thousand times worse this season..

What is up with EVERYONE trying to make a webisode. Pros who are making them with companies i can understand, but i have seen like 6 EPISODE 1 webisodes on ns today alone. Why not just save up the footage and make a few super good edits instead of like 10 mediocre webisodes???

We were gonna make a web series, but decided to make a movie after seeing how much more work it is.Movie= 30 mins.

10 minute webasode X 8 = 80 minutes = an hour and a half.

How so many people do it I dont know.

Because the internet has allowed people to have access to content they want as often as they want it. If a person sits on footage all season they are basically irrelevant for 10 months out of the year.

Making mediocre webisodes is just something that happens because of the editing. People should just learn to only put out the best content they have during the season and make it unique. You can't tell me if the top 5 most coveted video skiers put out 4 videos throughout the season of the best stuff they have up to that point you wouldn't be hyped on those edits.

unless you're real skifi or with a company, you should think twice before doing one, that's my thought

webisodes keep pros so much more relevant. it is essentially the same as putting out an edit every few weeks, but people are just adding in more lifestyle stuff

I like editing a day or two's worth of footage together right after, or else ill sit on it forever.

but I have done the opposite the past year, fun to have a library of stuff to work with. Plus I find it particularly nostalgic to review older stuff.

But yah, nowadays its about keeping a current presence if you want your stuff to become known.

Or you can just make edits and release them for no purpose besides giving the video a place to live for friends and those interested to be able to view.

my stand is that if you are going to start a skiing web series you have to be creative and think of stuff that nobody has before. we see good skiing in ns edits all day every day, we do not want to see whole episodes of just "good skiing". also if you are going to make a web series show the personality of the people you are filming not just their skiing. Think about why things like Traveling Circus and Real Skifi are doing well.

not saying kids should sit on footage, but i am saying i dont see a point in rushing and putting out half ass attempts and putting out 10 videos in a season instead of 3 good ones.

dont get me wrong, if you pushing out 5 minutes in bangers every week go for it make a webisode, but the majority of kids making webisodes arent doing that...

True. So your issue isn't with webisodes. It's with the quality of video content being put out.

As mentioned before, it's not that too many putting out webisodes, it's that they are just taking edits and slapping webisode on them with minimal to no lifestyle footage.

Yes, but I mean like, don't count for it to be succesful and then cry if it fails miserably like some people do...

sorry for double, wasn't finished...

In that case it's better to just make a decent edit instead of crappy webisodes.

Carrying on from OP.

What webisodes would people put down as there favorite?

I'm having an un productive day and could do with some entertainment.

I know people do it for fun, and I'm all for that. But it's people that try to be succesful with one and cries about it when they don't become popular that I hate on.

To sum up, by all means do webisodes but don't cry when people think it sucks.

not really sure how this is a "NS CALLOUT" more than just a whiny thread

welcome to 2013. people make webisodes. wanna know the best part about them: nobody is forcing you to watch them!

Terrible name choice by me i agree. But it bothers me and a ton of nsers are doing it therefore a callout was necassary.

Go back to smoking crack

What I'm saying is why not just watch a regular edit if there is nothing but skiing. The whole point of a webisode is too tell a story instead of just showing random ski porn. Instead most of the webisodes op is talking about are just 8 minute edits with a number in the title.

I should also add said lifestyle shots don't even have to be off the hill, just some kind of dialogue to break up the different segments.

ALSO... if you save up the footage and make a "few super good edits"...

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU CALL THOSE THEN? not webisodes? what is a webisode anyways? and seriously why do you care
