How many are there?

It's my favorite hobby once winter ends. Share some fish stories, where you fish, whatever. I'm just curious as to how many bass fisherman are on here.

My friend from school is like the junior bassmaster chamipon of New england or something. His name is Travis Rockett. He had an NS idk if he still uses it.

going bass fishing tomorrow morning actually. i try and go at least twice a week and fish 4 or 5 tourneys a year

Fishing is the shit. Haven't gone in so long. I've done little bass fishing but like Walleye and Northern Pike fishing.

When I lived in Mississippi all I really fished was large mouth. Now that I'm in South Dakota the only thing we really have is for bass is rock bass and I fucking hate them. Turned more to trout and whatever I can catch really.

My brother was sponsored for a few years. Competed in all sorta of competitions, flew to Swisterland for the Bass Master Classic a while ago i think. maybe it was swisterland, idk. but he used to be crazy about it, bought a bass boat at 17, won tons of shit. he still has a closet full of gear.

i try to get out once a week, pretty awesome way to kick back and relax. especially with a few friends, a pontoon, grill, and beers

the only time i really go specifically for bass is during the smallmouth run. since i don't have a boat, it's really nice to be able to cast to some bigger bass. otherwise i really only catch bass >14''.

How big?

I've only fished for small mouth like twice. But I caught a 9 lb large mouth last summer and almost shit myself.

Fucking love bass fishing. Just got some new gear at Cabelas friday. Usually fish in local ponds that are stocked up real well. Now that I'm older my friend and I have been traveling to a few state game land ponds. I have way to many stories to even begin to pick one. I just catch a shit ton of fish. Texas rig is where it's at.

i fish for striped bass in the vineyard and nantucket sound. we have a couple different tactics though. we could either 1) live-line scup 2) cast or troll with eels or tubes in the elizabeth islands, or 3) troll with a parachute jig

so much fun to catch. the largest i've caught was 40 inches in like 105 feet if water on a fluke rig.

40 inches is pretty big, what was the weight? I run a charter boat and we usually use diamond jigs with pork rind or squid. On the night trips off of fishers island and block island we usually see 35 to 40 inches on average, and up to 60 inches for the big cows. Right now the stupid dogfish have settled in thick though, hard to get your hook down without snagging one

i honestly don't even know the weight. we don't carry a scale on out boat. we only fish casually, and it was a huge surprise to catch that beast. we were fishing for fluke/black sea bass in like 100 feet of water and i just happened to hook one.

whereabouts is block island?

So my dad just traded a bunch of useless shit in our garage for a new rod and reel. And the guy we traded to is a tournament bass angler and gave us a whole cardboard box full of plastic rigs and jigheads and other lures and 2 spinning reels with the trade. So basically I got $200+ of new gear for free.

Dude nice thread! I just fkn slayed this weekend...

Two of the biggest largemouths I've ever caught. Was with a bunch of friends on Saturday in the rain in kayaks up in VT. One 6+ and another at least 7lbs. Also got an 18" or so pickerel and a few perch. What made it better was almost everybody else got skunked while I was pulling in HOGS hahahaha...

God I love fishing. I love catching even more though. Kayaks are the shit for quiet lakes, it's like a stealth attack and I am down with that.

bass fishing takes me right back. one of my fondest childhood memories is fishing off a dock with my dad, i caught a chub and he hooked it through the back for me and i cast it out. the bobber danced for a while and my dad told me to leave it be. a few hours later it was time to go and i had the "just a few more minutes" attitude, i finally gave in and when i reeled in i was surprised by the tug on the other end. after a 5 minute or so fight i landed a monster bass. that's why i love fishing, it takes me back to the careless days without a worry in my mind

Yeah I just got a kayak actually. They're hella fun to fish out of, I'm planning on goign for the 2nd time in a kayak this weekend.

Bump. Went fishing yesterday. Slayed. Got really stoend then caught a few small ones like 2 lbs then I caught a 6 lb and a 4ish. Thought I would share my escapade.

I love fishing but there's no Bass where I live, mostly Pickerel, Perch, and Jack.

Oh and one time I caught a 30lb carp, it was ugly as fuck and it was massive.

Bump because I saw another thread on bass fishing. Going camping Friday, gonna get some fishing in before snowboarding Saturday. Bass haven't been too hot the last month or so though.

Saltwater >>>>>>>> freshwater

Stripers ftw, nailed a 42incher when i was 10. Thing was bigger than my brother.

I live in michigan and fish st clair a fair amount, I have caught smallies over 5 and largies over 7. I always pick up a few nice pike on st clair. Biggest to date was 34 inches and around 14 lbs. Ive been toying with musky stuff for a couple outings but haven't caught one yet.

i live in PA and usually fish at my friends private pond. Mostly Largemouth, Crappie, And some walleye.

Texas rig. Top water lures. Weedless frogs >

live in boston, fish on the vineyard, and up in vermont where i have a house- i have a 12 foot jon boat and a 6 horsepower engine that i use for my bass fishing, but i go striper fishing on the vineyard in a 22 foot whaler with a 115 - caught a 42 inch 31 pounder this summer on the vineyard, lots of 34-38 inchers, on the lake got alot of 4-6 pound bass on jigs and hula poppers- bass fishing is unreal- best way i can think of spending a day on a lake- can also be frustrating as hell thoughanyone fish up in vermont/newhampshire area?

I've fished all my life but really got into it for the first time this summer. I live in the Finger Lakes Region of NY (upstate). Mostly fished for largemouth and trout this summer, but my real goal was to catch a big small mouth. Anyone else have any luck with smallies? I just cant seem to get one.

ive caught some big smallmouth with my cousin- he caught a huge 6 pounder while i was fishing with him- it was in deep water with a rocky bottom using a texas rig on a baby brushhog jig- smallmouth seem to hang more in deeper water- the lake i have a house on doesnt really have smallmouth so im not positive but the ones ive caught have been in deep water near rocks or floats
