I'm tired of having to go to my computer or to the safari app everytime i want to go on NS! I mean come on! NS is getting to the point where they will need an app. Please comment on this if you agree with me!!

if you have an iPhone,

go to safari and open newschooler.com. the hit the button that looks like a little square with an arrow coming out of it. then hit "Add to Home Screen". then BAM!!!! ns app.

there was an app released back in early 2010 for $1.99. though... the mobile version of the site functioned a lot better than the app and obviously the app has since fallen off the radar.

Going forward, focus will likely be on improving our mobile tools for cross platform use. With all the new web tech available, we could make a kick ass mobile site and not have to worry about having to develop specific apps for each individual platform, and then constantly maintain those (as was the issue with the iPhone app, we just couldn't keep up)

if your implying that's too much money then deal with it, $2 is nothing for an app that supports NS...

and fuck the mobile site, images are too hard to read and if anyone embeds a video the formatting gets fucked up

please update the iPhone app for iOS 5

i didnt think the app was all that bad... i mean, there was a lot it couldnt do but for just cruising the forums it was okay

The issue with the app was that there was really only one developer. When you're trying to keep up with both Newschoolers.com code changes and Apple software and hardware updates, it's just a bit too much to handle. Going forward, I do hope that NS gets together with its parent company and dreams up a solution. Because the mobile site, quite frankly, at this point isn't much better. You can't quote, for example. And even with HTML5, you're not going to get things like photo and video uploading without an app. There is untapped potential here, for sure. It's just getting a committed and dedicated developer team.
