Hello fellow freeskiers, i'm currently writing a book called 'Ridge' and it will be done soon. It's about freeskiing, and i need a location, the choices are Baker, Whistler, or Jackson? Which should it be?? Thanks, i'll put u in the book if u would like, if u help me some on research of the places. THANKS A LOT!!!

They all have great backcountry, so it's really a hard decision. Whistler would probably be the easiest to research on the internet due to its large popularity (not saying the other places aren't popular). Mt. Baker does have their world famous Mt Baker Road Gap which would make for an interesting section in a book. Are you planning on only writing about only one of these places? They all are very worthy of being written about, and they all have their own pros and cons. It really depends exactly what you want to include in your writing. Good Luck!!

I would pick Whistler. For one everyone knows where it is, and it's such an epic place. So many well know skiiers come out of whislter. Plus it has everything.

whistler is over played. do jackson.

Do Jackson, the whistler scene is too corporatized.. awsome place but you want somethin rugged and core for a novel

whistler is a great place because people know about it, but dont do whistler for one reason, its not what freeskiing is about, whistler is becoming the alberta rockies during the 80s' its becoming aspen, its becoming a million starbucks, cigar bars, and a posh way of life, it missrepresents the sport in my mind and is becoming one of those places where people in suits ski down at the end of the day, talk about there million dollar houses and there beach houses in main. My two cents

JJ

if i was a millionaire i wouldnt want a beach house in maine, id get one in minnessota.

'Shit? I don't shit...I throw up out of my anus.''

Thanks a ton. I'll use everything u've given me, and maybe sequels with other places. I'm thinking of doing Jackson or Baker first. The book is called Ridge, and i need an area of age for the characters, i'm thinking either 15-16 or 20-22 what should it be??

20-22 to really show freeskiers yuou have to talk about the partying

Alcohol the cause and solution to all lifes problems.

i'm saying both 15-16, and 20-22. show how it's not just one age group. like have the 20-22 year olds with lil brothers. even throw a girl in somewhere.

also my name is mike cordaro, you could put my name in the beginning. something like 'this book is dedicated to the incredibly handsom mike cordaro'

'Anyone got any hot sisters they wanna sell?'

i think you should write about a 20-22 year old, but also play up the aspect that he has no shame helpin out younger kids, cause that is what freeskiing is all about, progreesin the sport.

Stop signs outlined in white are optional.

powder ridge in connecticut has by far some of the best backcountry youve ever skid.

how long, pagewise, will this book be?

do you have a publisher lined up yet or just writing and hoping? but yeah, 15-16 or whatever, definitely not young adult since it's kinda cliche but your novel i guess.

you got a general idea for plot or themes?

Hmm,

I'm thinking that it's rather odd that you say this book will be done soon. You don't know what your location will be nor the ages of your characters. And how long before this book is complete? Most established novelists take months and sometimes years to finish a novel. Unless your 'book' is going to be a 35 page childrens chapter book we've got to wait awhile before we see 'Ridge' on the New York Times best seller's list.

yeah, when i mean soon, i mean a year. I'm working constantly and i like the concept of a 20-22 year-old protagonist (main guy) with his peeps and little bro age 15-16. and course a girl, can't forget the babes. i'm planning on the paperback being like 200-350 pages, with sequels coming, even if i don't make but a penny. Hope u guys like it, if ur interested in helping, or reading every chapter as i write it, email me at boardomguitar@hotmail.com

And thanks again for the help on 'Ridge'!!!

yes Alpentalik a beach house on lake superior would be quite nice...Anyway, I would pick either Baker or Jackson Hole. All my reasons have already been covered in previous post!

How many have there been. Go for jackson, i live thier so i am also biased. It is an awesome place

Jackson Hole represent!

'Loyd, you can't triple stamp a double stamp! Loyd!'

jackson has one of the sickest backcountries anywhere. also, the skiers and the scene in jackson is unreal. pros and locals just rip together. the cliffs and kickers in the backcountry, oh i'm getting anxious just thinking about it.

sounds good, the first story will be located in Jackson, while the 2nd and 3rd r still undecided. it's a sweet ass story!

I dont understand how u can make a hole book on freeskiing and yet u cant figure out what age there characters shopuld be, or where it will take place.

I think you should rip off Harry Potter but instead of Hogswarth he can go to a ski academy.

and the ski industry will make millions and u can sit back and laugh

I AM WRITING. When writing a book the longest and hardest part is setting the layout. I'm already writing. So stop bitching. Thank You. The book will be finished prob. around march time, then i'll send it to the publisher. But if anyone wants a copy i'll send it over, just email to BoardomGuitar@hotmail.com Thanks.

i am no expert in the field of writing and or business, but i had a funny feeling that to make money at this you had to actually SELL THE BOOK. how exactly do u plan on doing this if you are giving the book away to anyone who emails you?

actually, i already know the answer, so dont bother responding, unless your answer is different from the one i am thnking, which you wouldnt know, so lets just assume they are the same, and so you wont respond... unless you want to.
