i don't know if this idea has been thought of already but i think it would be really cool. every time someone quotes a person's response in a thread the quoted person would get a notification. i know the thread already goes in the "my threads" section but it doesn't say if someone quotes you in response to something you said. this would be kind of like the way facebook notifications work except instead of when someone comments on something you said it would be for when someone quotes something you said.
 
this already came up and its a good idea except some people don't quote all the time.

I was also thing you could have a notifications type thing except it would be for your threads, so when you make a thread and some one postes in it you get a notification. There could be a 4th tab next to the "logout" "friends" and "quicklinks" tab. it could just simply say notifactions. Then once you click on it, it could have the name of the thread, who replied, and what time, ect... This would be very usefull in bst when someone postes in the thread, because you get side tracked and forget about people posting in it.
 
this would work but that's basically the same thing as the "my threads" section.
i like the idea of whenever someone comments on one of your pictures or videos you would get a notification like some one said
 
I don't really think that is a great idea, but on other forums I've been on you got an email when someone posted in a thread you posted on. Which is not a bad idea.
 
I agree with the photo and video section, blogs too.

Not for the forums tho. Good grief, poor Pandaman would have to have an alternate email just for NS notifications.
 
Not for threads, that would get retardedly anoying. Although I wouldnt mind having it for photos, I forget alot of the photos that I comment on and it would be helpful to remember.
 
There is options on other forums to only get an email once a week to notify you if a thread you posted in has been posted in again.

Also, at these forums you can look at the threads you have posted in and go straight to your last post and read from there. Something like that could be nice to have under the "My Threads" tab here.

oh wait, that was just thomas PMing me saying he quoted me, i got my hopes up for a second :(
 
Damn... I need to update my meter.

But I kinda hope they do something to the My Threads. Would be nice to jump into the thread right where you posted. Though, because NS uses a different format than Sherdog, TGR, and GameSpot do it might not work.
 
The anti-Facebook argument is invalid. The fact is that NS is becoming more and more like Facebook. The only real thing that it's missing is a live chat function.

Notifications are inevitable in the long-term evolution of NS. I expect photo, video, and comment notifications within a few years. Generally, NS and Facebook will start moving together. It's inevitable. It'll start with some modest integration, but it will gradually grow to who knows what. The Internet is moving to Facebook, and if you think that NS is going to ignore that, you're sorely mistaken.
 
NS has ignored other things that are more common on other forums/facebook (*cough*multi quote button*cough*)
 
Haha true, but NS has been quick to catch up with H.264 videos (still no HTML5 yet) and iNS. There's no way NS would ignore a market of 400 million. Even just for small integrations like Facebook Connect. It wouldn't be difficult and it would add a new dimension to the social features on the site.
 
It would be cool for you to be told if someone put something you said somewhere in they're signature
