noticeing a strange phenomena

Over the past little while I have been noticing a phenomena in the NS community that I expected to come all along, but wasn't sure when. The site has started to develop social levels. We are starting to get split up into differnt groups of people... it's a shame, but at the same time, it's good. anyone else notice this happening?

I was never around to c the good o'll Ns and I'm a part of many of the spliting (i think) I just want it to be a site were all the skier talk about there favort stuff(manly sking) and you know post pics and help eachother progress...

I think that's something that happens in society all the time... with an online community growing, I think it's inevitable to happen eventually. The nice thing about the online world though is that no one is shy... so people don't tend to get cliquey(sp??) like when in person...

I don't know know the old ns.com but I can imagine what it was like. I think its fine right now as long as their is respect. I think the more you hang around the better you get to know people so It all evens out overtime. No matter what there will always be the 'leaders/oldtimers' (not that any of u r old) and the 'newbies' and everyone in between!

True... now there are just more of everything.. more old-timers, more newbies... it's the same thing, just in bigger proportions.

I don't really see it at all. I see a few people getting pissed at others every now and then but there's always been little fights and little phases, personally I don't see a difference

yeah i havent really even had many conversations with people on this site but yes some people are starting to form groups i dont think it will get to a point where people start this shit like bloods and crypts but that would be fun shit to see....i feel so left out ;(.....lol

i haven't really noticed to much seperation expet that all the old timers talk to each other in the forums a lot, but thats expected considering how long they have been posting with each other

LOL, a NS gang. perhaps with gang colors on the Online bar. I know I'm relativly new (Dec. 2001), but I really enjoy talking and posting with you guys, or even reading your conversations. I think its a good thing that you talk to each other a lot because it gets threads rolling better and encourages people to add content. Sooner or later, newbies who enjoy the site enough will turn into Vets and the ones who just cause trouble or don't post more than 10 times will lose intrest, and the Vets will remain just as they always have. Thats why most of you are yellow, because you have spent a lot of time on ns.com with each other. its okay that you talk to each other more.

yeah, there defienlty are different levels, the long time posters seem to talk to each other most of the time.

i have been on ns for ages ju8st under different user names...i have been cypress_pipe_sux, cypress1080 and now --J()nes--...people sometimes dont give me respect cus they think i have only been on for a month, i just laugh at them...

I've been observing from the sidelines for about 2 years, just started posting starting this fall. Pretty cool people here, it's fun to talk to them. There is really no reason to try to impress people with your posts, just be yourself.

I am a pretty old member, I have been on for about 1.5-2 years, ever since NS was black and shockwave!!!! but everyone hates me so i dont get to talk to people in the forum. the reason they hate me is because, back in the early days of NS. me and my friend altahuckster4life used to come on and make long, long, long useless posts, some would just be the letter k repeating themselves. I got kicked of NS.com on probabtion, but i got back on within a few days, after i promised matt it wouldnt happen again. So i am sorry to everyone about that. and i hope you still dont hate me. but I need friends, kind of, not really, now i am just talking, this is the end!

 
You forgot to mention the second time you were kicked off... I doubt anyone hates you any more.. you haven't done anything stupid in a while..

I think in a way i can see groups forming, but i dont really see it as a problem. Sure you can tell who are friends on the site and whatnot but i dont really see too much of the older members just ignoring the newbies.

Im sorta inbetween on the site~ive been here since pretty close to the beginning when we just had like 2,500-5,000 posts, but i didnt start talkin in the forum until a couple of months ago so ppl think im new here but ive been around awhile

I used to be on like, everyday before the season started and now I'm coming back so i guess i missed the whole dividing into groups thing...

The only group I can see is the Group where everyone has a pic like Phat Tim

i think this site is like any where else. people are going to talk to their friends more then other people. i think most people on the site are open to meeting new people.
