Notebook for editing

I'm looking to get a laptop for editing. I really like mac, Ive used the ones at my college before for editing, but I was looking around and theyre pretty expensive, is there any other laptops anyone uses that are cheaper but still good, and what software do you need to go along with it. Thanks.

If you are editing anything that you want anyone to watch, you want to use either final cut pro, imovie or adobe premiere. Adobe runs off PC's which will be universally cheaper than any mac. Get a computer that has lots of ram (2 GB or more) and a decent video card, and try to get one that runs XP because vista sucks and will slow your system down.

yeah and just download any of the adobe programs like cs2 or whatever you would use for video editing
