Authorities are investigating the death of Trey Banner, 21, after the aspiring professional snowboarder was reportedly found dead in the Snyderville Basin Monday morning.
"The investigation is going on," said Kevin Orgill, a Summit County Sheriff's Office death investigator.
The officer wouldn't comment further about the case.
According to EXPN.com, Banner was an amateur team rider for M3 Snowboards.
This week his page on myspace.com reportedly showed a photograph of Banner in the mountains with the word "Peace." Other material was reportedly removed from the site.
Banner, who moved to Park City from the Chicago area before graduating from Park City High School, was known as a colorful personality among Park City's active snowboard and skateboarding subcultures. His fiery approaches to the sports contributed to his popularity.
Orgill said this week that family members were not interested in speaking to reporters.
On myspace.com on Tuesday, the page that belongs to The Click Snow and Skate in Park City linked to a friend named Neil Provo, who posted the phrase, "R.I.P. Trey ", on his myspace.com page.
The man apparently died of a gunshot wound, the sheriff said, adding that there is no evidence of criminal activity.
Friends and family were planning to meet at the Park City Skate Park Tuesday and a memorial service for Banner is scheduled at the Miners Hospital Thursday at 2 p.m.
