i think more people need to get the attitude of gapers. They don't care what they are wearing, just that they're having fun. I wasn't aware that while I was skiing down the mountain I was also skiing down the walkway. I was watching Dave Crichton's Forward segment and he said after this urban rail that he was feeling genuinely happy. that's the attitude people need. and yes, my first thought after hearing him say that was "I am going to go on Newschooler's and make a thread on a topic that's been beat to shit". I'm sick of seeing kids worrying more about getting the hottest gear instead of just the stoke of shredding.
and for anyone who is going to bitch about having clicked on this thread and it wasting your time, consider it un-wasted by looking below.

I agree with everything you're saying. Until there's a train of 6 year olds cruising down the landing of the jump i was about to hit, or that rail that i had the perfect speed for, or chillin on that random mound of snow that's always fun to boost when lapping. i get stoked off their stoke as long as they know how to do their thing without ruining my thing.
 
I get what you're saying. I wasn't saying that gapers should roam the park freely, destroy shit, and cause safety issues. What I was trying to get at is their attitude in general of going out there and having the best time they can without giving a damn about anything else.

While I don't care what I look like (most would think my suit was hideous, but hey gore tex for cheap), I also don't mind if someone loves their gear. I say if someones gear makes them happy, why hate on them so much? It's their choice, their money, and bought for their enjoyment. I say let people be who they are. As long as they are on the mountain having fun. Also it's uncool if they are the type that makes fun of others gear because it's not as expensive or stylish, but that's more of a personality issue then fashion.

All in all, don't worry what others are doing and just ski.

I like your attitude. Gapers and Gomers are fun to laugh at and make fun of, but they are out there to have as much fun as possible. Also, no resort would be running if it wasn't for the money that Gapers/Gomers bring to the ticket office. If they are ignorant in the park, you can let them know what they are doing is dangerous or that it is fucking the features up. Do it nicely though, as most times they do not know any better. Most of the time they will realize why their behavior is a problem and quit.

with that being said, i also love my outerwear, and the excitement of getting new outwear. i wonder how different skiing would be if NO ONE cared what they wore?
 
i get stoked on new gear too. not saying its a bad thing. its just when kids take it to a new level and need 10 Jiberish sweatshirts, FKS 18s, full tilts, tom Wallisch's underwear, new skis every season even though their current ones are in perfect condition, etc.
also, the kids that hate on other ones for what they wear.

Great thread, I also agree that the feel good vibe of skiing has been reduced slightly in the last couple years, but at least the industry is getting supported. By the way, great cans .
 
OP, you touched on something important.

How anyone gets down the mountain is of no concern to me. If you're having fun on the slopes, and encouraging others too, I back it.
 
I think that's Marrissa Miller, but i'm not sure. worse case scenario, you google pictures of her and spend five minutes ogling a different hot blonde.

It's runwayand who are you to tell people what they should be doing on skis. For a lot of people new stuff is part or most of the fun of skiing. I wish it wasn't all tall t's and XXXL but if kids wanna dress up like goons on snow that's their problem, but hey I bet they're having a good time doing it.What I will lay judgement on is hating other people's outerwear choice. That is the most ridiculous thing I've seen and it's been going on for to long. Hating on anything that isn't your style is the least progressive thing I can imagine so do, wear, and watch what you like and leave the hate to brobomb and yobeat where the hate is equal and actually fun.

amenI love getting new gearthis might sound hypocritical but i got new everything this year besides bindings. but i keep everything as long as possiblle.that is another plus about tall clothing. Since I'm still growing, it will fit me tight when that become the style :) jk
