you're not missing much. I've gotten in 4 days at Whis and I'm getting a wee bit bored with the early season conditions (went to slash on a closed trail and ripped my knee all over a rock) and it is fucking retarded that Van City has gotten snow yet Whis is still bare bones... and cold as fuck; high of minus 21 today.

i see how ur craving some skiing, but like the guy above said ur not missing very much. theres a 59 cm base, theres only a few runs open on each mountain, and it was brutally cold this weekend. no precip in the forecast either
and 4 finals...

Don'y get me wrong i prefer POW but we got none, so instead of complaining you just got to get crazy on rail its still really fun!!
No I haven't skiied yet either. Tomorrow was supposed to be day 1, but has been cancelled. Might go to Baker soon. Doesn't sound like we're missing much, who wants to ski in -30 incl wind chill on a skating rink anyway.

3 days of knee deep pow on the hill and a few more from touring. the core shots are worth it.

Revy got puked on last mon-tue, but it's cold as fuck (-40) here now, and looks like everything got wind scoured. At least they have twice (120cm) the base that whistler (60cm) does. And it's wind loaded deeper in places for sure. I'll take bluebird and cold over rainy and and overcast.

Opening Day at Baker was good. Really good. Wish I was able to be there yesterday because even at the end of the day Sunday there were still freshies all over the place.
I'd rather have this ridiculous cold and no snow than warm temps and rain. I hope Whis is making snow like crazy to at least bring the regular runs up to decent condition. The snow will return, I just hope it doesn't take too long.

"A very weak frontal system near the Alaskan Panhandle which is
associated with a low over northern Alberta will move southwards today.
Computer forecast models agree that tonight as the front moves south it
will develop its own area of low pressure independent of the one over
northern Alberta and it will strengthen. The new low pressure system
will cross the Greater Vancouver area on Wednesday morning with a
strength of around 100.5 kPa. This isn't a strong system but it is
enough to dump a few centimeters of fresh snow on the south coast of
BC. Computer forecast models show that it should clear up on Wednesday
afternoon. A few factors could produce more snow than currently
forecasted including: earlier development of low pressure system,
increase in southerly or southwesterly winds bringing more moisture
from the Pacific, or the low pressure system could stall over the
Georgia Strait or Puget Sound on Wednesday afternoon. As it stands
right now we expect all areas to receive between 3 and 8 cm of snow by
late Wednesday morning.
Strong outflow winds will redevelop in
the wake of this system late on Wednesday and Thursday. Colder
temperatures will persist through the last half of this week. There is
a potential for more snow late this weekend but the details are
sketchy. What we're watching for is a strong low pressure system to
develop in the Gulf of Alaska and then hit the south coast of BC
perhaps on Sunday. If the high pressure system to develop over BC is
too strong then it will deflect the system south of BC as the latest
computer forecast model shows. Earlier runs showed it hitting the south
coast dead on with significant amounts of snow. This is something we
need to watch for.
As we get closer to Christmas it is looking
more like a white Christmas. With the latest computer forecast model it
looks like a 75% chance of snow on the ground on Christmas day in
Greater Vancouver."
