The NYC police fined this guy $50 for not being in the bike lane despite there being an obstruction. He definetaly makes his point in the video.

 
What a fucking loser.

He didn't explain why he got the ticket, other than he wasn't in the bike lane. He was likely on the sidewalk, which is dangerous if it's a busy sidewalk. Then he thinks he can make his point by crashing into stuff that he could easily go around, and no cop in their right mind would ticket him...

The point is that he was moving around something that obstructed the biking lane when he was ticketed. Therefore he was trying to show that in some instances it is necessary to move around shit in the way and you have to get out of the bike lane. Hence why he is so baffled that he got a ticket.

did you miss that part? It was said and written. It's clearly not from riding on the sidewalk.

but if he was riding on the sidewalk he would have gotten a ticket for riding on the sidewalk. there would be no other words but 'you got a ticket for riding on the sidewalk'. he would never have said for 'riding outside the bike lane'. that implies he was riding somewhere that isn't illegal to ride in provided there is no bike lane.

When he crashed into the back of the moving truck I cracked up.

This is a daily occurance in the bike lane wars here. Most of the bikers are fucking douchebags about it. And I ride my bike in the city so I know what its like.
