Not about skiing sorry, how about MTB in VT.

I'm lookin' for some low downs on some of the local mountain biking areas around Burlington.

I hit up Mud Pond today which totally kicked my ass with all the climbing haha but I also know Saxon Hill and Sunny Hollow are open now?

I plan on heading out again tomorrow afternoon and I'm lookin' for some info as to where's best to hit up.

Any insights appreciated.

im trying to stay in burlington this summer and do a bunch of trail riding. my buddy knows some good trails so ill hunt him down and get back to you

got the details, the trails are behind Camp Johnson in colchester, right down the street from st mikes. gotta be at least 10 miles of trails, single and doubletrack. some decent climbs and descents, a couple tech sections and maybe a small drop or two. getting to the trail head is kind of hard to explain, if youre interested though hit me up with a PM and ill let you know

just rode the town loops in stowe and main trails were in good shape and fun. Lots of trails in the hills still needs to rest.

Saxon Hill! haha I got the chance to hit that up today. it was a ton of fun with a lot of variety but getting lost was way too easy haha. Fellowship of the trail has been out keeping it well maintained and you could see where they put up new markers. Our problem was that we just keep taking random trails one after the other but after two and a half ours we were spit back out at the main entrance. But i highly recommend it for anybody looking for a good easy to intermediate ride!

and thanks twaddler, good looks!

ahhh damn i was hoping it was some unknown dope trail system. shows what i know about these trails i guess. toss a gopro on the dome and film some riding, im hurtin to get out there

That's the plan for this summer! I'm assuming you've ridden it? haha

And of course the GoPro was rollin'. I'm currently working on the edit now.

I need to get up North to explore the offerings around Burlington.

If you want to explore a bit more South to change things up a bit...

Mad River Valley has some awesome trails. The Green Mountain Trails in Pittsfield are awesome too. Pine Hill Park in Rutland has a lot of excellent riding as well.

Sunny Hollow is mad fun. The trails go so deep into the woods, you can ride for a while without taking the same trail twice. There is some easy single track trails and some gnarly downhill spots. I'll start going in a few weeks once I get the bike rack on my car.

word! I was thinking about hitting sunny up tomorrow actually. thanks!

and Twaddler, I totally got Saxon Hill confused with Sunny Hollow. Sunny Hollow is the one near Camp Johnson, sorry!

I don't mountain bike, but I know Hinesburg Town Forest is popular, and I have some friends that bike there.

I was hiking in the south parcel of the Fred Johnson WMA in Hinesburg last fall, and there were a lot of logging roads that people use as bike trails. I really wish I'd gotten into biking because it seems like a lot of fun and a great way to explore different areas. There are definitely a lot of options around here.

oh, also Bolton, duh, but you probably already know that. I spend a lot of time up there in the summer and there EXTENSIVE trails, both marked at the main area and then a bunch of logging roads around timberline. I know there's a pretty long road that goes down along Joiner brook a good ways, and another one that follows a trib. up behind Timberline mountain almost all the way up to Goose Pond (about 1/4 of a mile below the windmill, in the saddle between Vista Peak and Woodward Mt.)

i actually have a house on burke and kingdom trails runs through our yard. its the best MTB trail system in the country. 150+ miles of trails and a lift service for the park trail. its so sick there. bolton is dope too

there she is, be gentle. Were just starting to get into it. haha

Come ride Stowe/Waterbury/Morrisville!! Lots of good riding in Stowe. Town Loops are easy to follow, then there's lots more less known kinda secret stuff.

Perry Hill in Waterbury is probably the best riding in the area, Super long, 1000 vertical foot climb followed by epic descents.

Definitely lots of riding in the area. Little bit of a drive from Stowe, but not nearly as far as Kingdom.

Let me know if you want to come ride! Most trails are open already.

Also, I work at Skiershop in Stowe. We do group rides every Friday evening around 5:45. In the summer months our female owner (Bobbie) will be running women's only group rides Wednesday evenings around the same time.

I've been hitting up Sunny Hollow / Camp J the past few days, about to head out and do some solo filming. They really fixed up the trails out there.

more mtb love...trails in stowe have been great. Cruised to Burke last few weekends and have had a blast. Downs are legit and ups are about passing spandex'd french fries
