Huge snowstorm this weekend gonna nail the shit out of the northeast.

This Nor'Easter is going to kill the whole northeast Sunday. Near Blizzard conditions with high snowfall rates and high winds. Green and White Mtns could see upwards of 3 feet in places.
 
theres no way the green means 1-1.5 inches an hour...especially snowing in the east. the orange may be 1 inch, then red 1.5 and over. but theres no way the green is that much. that would mean the red is like 2.5 inches an hour.
 
I don't know about that radar, but the Wunderground.com radar system, orange is generally 1-2 inches/hour, so it isn't unreasonable for green to be .5-1 inches/hour. Red is usually 3+ inches per hour, and I've very rarely seen that on the Buffalo radar during very heavy lake effect events.
 
i have a question for all of you. Im debating whether to hit urban sat, sun, and some of monday but the tproblem is that sunday it may be too snowy to drive around. my other option is to hit urban saturday then go up to burlington so i can ski jay sunday then go home on monday. Do you think ill be able to drive home from burlington to rochester, ny on monday? sounds like northern vt may be buried by 3 feet of snow by that time....idk if roads will be open. But 1 epic pow day at jay sounds tempting.....shit. I could just hike shit here and build stuff on monday.

I'm likely hiking an old abandoned ski area here in Western New York. It's got some sick glades and some steeper runs.
 
fuck, well now they are calling for snow to start sunday morning. That means jay wont be good until the afternoon or monday. Guess that rules out that option.........

So it's officially a Winter Storm Warning now. Just issued by the NWS of Buffalo, NY. Here is the forecast for Western New York.

"SNOWFALL WILL BEGIN SATURDAY EVENING OVER THE SOUTHWESTERN CORNER OF NEW YORK AND SPREAD RAPIDLY NORTHEAST ACROSS THE REST OF THE REGION OVERNIGHT. BY SUNDAY MORNING 3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW IS LIKELY ACROSS THE REGION.

DURING SUNDAY SNOW WILL CONTINUE AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES. BY SUNDAY NIGHT TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS FOR MOST FOR THE AREA COULD RANGE BETWEEN 16 AND 20 INCHES."

There is a slight chance of a period of sleet here though which would hold snow accumulations down to 8-14 inches if that occurs.
 
haha that screenshot of the radar is too damn funny... really stoked for this storm though, just finished my last final and i head home tomorrow morning, just in time, now it just has to dump as much as they're saying and i'll be pumpeddddd.
 
ive heard northern vermont has the potential of 50 inches but defiently at least 25 yesaahh sonnnnnnnnn goonna be rocking the sanouks on sunday and monday
 
thats not actually the real doppler radar for this storm for anyone who thought it was. my teacher showed this pic to me in class and i thought i'd make a joke out of it.
 
B-town area s'posed to get 12-18 inch...some areas around the mt's gittin 18-26...maybe even 3 ft. some predictin in the mountains!!

if anyones around amsterdam area im thinking about getting some people to take snowmobiles up my grandparent's mountain. There's a road to a hunting camp way up , but as i remember it was decently steep going up. With close to 2 more feet on top of the other foot we just got it might be worth it to go up and build a kicker and find some glades.

i was hittin rails instead of bristol. Weather is horrible. none of the snow packed well because it was fucking ice crystals, even with water or salt no dough. still got some stuff done tho. But it was raining, then sleet, then super snow. better get more snow
