mountain hardware is really nice...and so is tnf. critics of northface will argue though that ever since they (tnf) got bought out they have changed their marketing strategy by creating products with fashion as the primary concern instead of quality and overall outdoor toughness.

Na, everyone makes good fleece. Personally I'd lean towards TNF, but whatever's cheaper will probably work just as well as the other one.

kami, i would go for helly hansen, but i have no way of getting it around here at all, so those are my only choices, the north face one is cheaper then the mountain hard wear one to.

Mtn Hardware owners are ex north face employees so both company's high end product tend to be quite similar, but I don't think that helps your decision making any. If I was you though I would go for Mtn. Hardware and that's just because of there reputation among Mountain enthusiasts.

haha, oh god. THis reminds me of my work. I work at www.backcountry.com so I constantly get asked "Which is better? TNF or Mountain Hardwear??!?!" Or "I need a Denali vest! Alllll my friends have them and it's so cool."

the north face used to have some really high quality stuffr but it seems to be slowly been getting worse for its outerwear unless you go with the super high end stuff and even thats not the same. id go with mountain hardwear or look at arc'teryx, there stuff is mad legit
