North Carolina Skiing

I am thinking about going to UNC Charlotte next year, and I just want to know what the skiing is like there. I found a bare minimum of like 6 resorts, and I noticed that 2 or 3 of those have 700+ vertical feet.

Would anybody know about the skiing in North Carolina? For example: how is the snow, how long is the season, how accessible are the resorts, are the terrain parks good? are there any slopes an expert skier would spend time on?

anyway, i know only 0-1 person will probably reply to this thread.. so thanks

i've skiied NC multiple times, the skiing is satisfactory and believe it or not i get more stoked skiing shitty small hills than when i do outwest, probably since i feel like im making the most of a shitty predicament.

The best park is at Appalachian ski mountain which is like 4 hours from chapel hill, they have a park better than most parks on the east coast and mid west, and they only keep getting bigger and bigger each year.

Hawksnest when it has snow is a good mountain with alot of blacks, Sugar Mountain has the most vert but only recently starting letting skiers in the park.

Beech mountain is worth trying out too.

You'd probably only be 3 hours from Snowshoe, which is in W Va and is owned by intrawest, it also has 60 trails.

There is also liberty, masunatten, and wintergreen in VA.

In short, you can get your skiing fix in the south, and theres no reason you should pick going north over south just because of skiing when you have perfectly fine mountains and challenging parks here.

im a local to the north carolina ski scene. Appalachain ski mtn is the place to go for sure. The park gets bigger and more attention every year so next year should be dope. our season usaly goes from thanksgiving to the end of march. check out the website http://www.appterrainpark.com/
