North American Open

I believe that it's tentatively set for Jan 30-Feb 1. Not sure if the venue has been set either but breck is probably a safe assumption.

yeah i mean theres still a lot of ideas in the works, theres something about it on one of jons video blogs, i think its like one of the questions video where he talks about it, but you might have to wait i mean last year they didnt releas this info until early january.

Right now they are planning on 3 stops, Breck, Big Bear and one on the east.
Breck is currently scheduled for Jan 29th-Feb1st. The dates for the other stops are still be worked on. At least they were a few weeks a go when I spoke with the tour organizer.

Nips, bobby, You guys probably know more about this than I do but this sounds very interesting. Sure Sunday River is really good at keeping ideas locked up until the right time but i'm not sure. SR just doesn't have the ability to make a park that's worthy of a major event. Rocking Chair isn't long enough to be a real slopestyle course, they would need to bring back Nebula and that requires a lot of snowmaking to make 60-70 foot long, 40 foot wide, 25 feet tall mounds. in a place that isn't already a park.

^ yeah dude i never skied at SR before, that's just what I was told. I'm just hoping that they can make a sick course for NAO. GANgsta

I think its absolutely rediculous that simon and jon would take thier 1 year old competition which has a poor track record for judging and organization and put it on the exact same day as the longest running competition in the sport of newschool skiing. the US Open has always been a place where everyone goes to compete whether you plan on competing all year of filming for the rest of it. The Us Open has always been something that brought us together as a sport and now 2 of the biggest names in the sport are trying to take that away from us.

SIMON AND JON: we've already lost FREEZE and the VT OPEN and i know it has hurt the comunity a lot so all i have to ask is this- WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO DESTROY ONE OF THE ONLY THINGS IN SKIING THAT STILL KEEPS US TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY?

there is not enough sponsors for two high caliber events within 50 miles of eachother in the same weekend. One of these events will obviously fade into obsurity or become a coveted ametuer competition. I think its safe to assume that simon and jon do not want thier competition to succumb to either of these fates and thierfore are hoping for, no, bringing on the demise of a competition that is close to 15 years old.

History matters

Ok I'm confused... What are the Major events and dates this season?

Dew Tour

Xgames

US Opem

Aspen Open

North American Open.

Vermont Open?

Any others?

Anyone want to fill in the dates excluding the VTO? Please?

i only plan to attend the good old, O.G., US Open, looking quite forward to the later date this year too! i don't think they're conflicting, but i agree with tosh

The US Open has had some pretty poor showings . . . if Jon and Simon can replace it with a better Open contest, then why not? I would miss the US Open, but I'd take that a better Open over a bad one (last year had problems beyond the weather, and a couple years before they completely blew the rail setup in perfect weather).
