Noob Question

tried the searchbar real quick but nothing popped up, so my question is: will i need to detune my new park skis edges for rails? will detuned edges make a significant diference?

i'm specifically looking into getting line park skis (shadow, invader or anthem)... i just don't want to jump on a rail/box just to catch an edge and take a nasty spill. all my experience with park skis has been with really used skis (detuned edges).

help me out ns!

If they are YOUR PARK ONLY ski, then maybe a little de-tune would help. But if it a one ski quiver, then i wouldn't recommend it.

I always detune mine. You won't be mad frustrated and catch your first time out. it can also help prevent edge

You should have your edges detuned a little before going out (not to a point of rounding the edges) usually skis come out of the factory super sharp and having them run through a detuner machine isn't a bad idea if your shop has one.

keep em tuned up, detuning your skis for park wont make a huge difference unless all you do is rails 24/7.

shops really don't have detuning machines, because we usually use files or gummies. some wax wheels have a detuning thing in them, but they are more of a nuisance than anything.

Over time, they will just get dull from sliding boxes and rails, so i wouldn't detune them, just keep the same skis on the same foot so you can have one or two almost sharp edges.
