Alrighty heres a noob question for you guys, when your measuring for true center, do you just take the straight length of the ski from tip to tip, or do you measure the curve of the tips too?
Straight from tip to tip is how it's done. If you're reading threads about people mounting a ski 2 back from centre/etc, use this measurement.
BUT, if you want to mount on true centre then you'll end up with more tail than tip because on most skis the tail scoop is shorter than the tip. So the best thing to do is measure RUNNING LENGTH CENTRE and mount there. This normally ends up between 0.5 and 1.5cm back from true centre depending on the ski. This is where I mount my park skis because it gives you equal tip and tail touching the snow.
IF you're wanting to mount them centre, then running length centre/effective length centre IS where you should mount, but that's not what he asked. Almost everyone will measure "true centre" as tip to tail is a straight line and go from there. People who say thay've mounted their AR6s 2cm back from centre, it's 2cm back from there, not effective edge centre.
that just doesn't make sence if you read what i said. actually the way that everyone else is implying would mount them farther back. It's just different than how me and everyone i know has ever mounted their skis, but i mount mine center anyway.
Sorry man, you're totally wrong on that one. On most skis (other than those with equal tip and tail heights), if you measure true centre tip to tail then you end up forward, with more tail than tip. And that is why running length centre should be used if you want to centre mount.
