Noob gopro question

So every file converter I have downloaded to make my gopro shots viewable on windows takes forever to load. What do you guys use to compress/convert your gopro shots?

Newer versions of Windows Media Player should be able to play it straight off the camera. It works on my laptop with windows 7, and on my mom's with XP with no problems. I bet Quicktime will work too. May just be that your computer can't handle the HD.

the real question is why does my quality turn to shit from the point when I put the videos on my computer, to when i'm done exporting. see, shit.

OOOOHHHHHHHHH SHIT...

I forgot I had made this for a friend a while ago to show him how to convert his files:

yeah what settings did you film in? that didn't really look like HD to begin with? or maybe your compressing just got really jacked.

Was this to me? I film in 960 48fps and it looks HD when i simply view the videos in quicktime, maybe it's because I am using a shitty free editor, but idk, I feel like it should still be able to make it look good.

oh yeah. it looks like when you put your video in the timeline of whatever editor you're using, its not matching the specs of your video and thats why you get the "letterboxing" and then when you export you aren't using the best settings for youtube it looks like, hence the quality drop

yeah make sure you export at the same size and rate that you filmed in. Also, you exported it in SD rather than HD that's why you can only view it in 480 on youtube.

Thanks guys i'm not even sure how to change most of this stuff on this free editor and windows movie maker doesnt work at all. Guess it's time to man up and buy a good one.

ha i think the best way to do it is download the trial of a program then search the good ol pirated bay for serials or keygens and keep your fingers crossed. its like christmas when you get one that works

Seriously. I have tried like everything and gotten some serials to work then next time i open the program it says the serial is wrong. Shit gets sooo old.

damn that blows. i ended up buying my editing software for pretty cheap off some sketchy website but it works flawlessly haha. no complaints there

Yea he knows whats up.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS5. It's basically the same exact thing as FCP7, but it has native video support so no conversion necessary. Just import you shots and theyre ready for the timeline.

^Yea i love premiere pro, i used it in school for a video tech class and then used the trial for a while. I need some fucking working serials.
