Non-ski sport, but ski related...

I was wondering what is the best sport that, whenever there is no snow, is best, to practice ski-like techniques.

I was thinking about freestyle inlinc skates, but if you know of something better, please tell me.

thanks

inline skates would be most similar. But skateboarding / wakeboarding/ biking any of that stuff kind of gives the same feeling as skiing in a way.

if you want to get as clos as possible to the technique and feeling involved in freestyle, try inline skating (start street, get on some ramps if u have the skill)...to get close to the same feelings i go Downhill biking in the summer months, u get a similar feeling in fast turns, it's so siiiick! best is try out a bit of everything and make a choice!

Unicycling, it builds your core strength faster than a group of mexicans building a fence. Also works your legs well, which is good if you got knee problems like I do.

rollerblading helps tons on rails. so does skateboarding probably, but rollerblading is way easier to learn so you can just go buy some skates and be doin somewhat fun tricks pretty quickly instead of spending your summer trying to learn how to ollie up a curb (if you've never skated before) but yea blades helped my rail balance and confidence in switch ups and stuff a lot.

Grass skiing. I saw it a couple of years ago. The are like all terrain rollerblades with more wheels

Motocross or even mountain biking

its all about balance, jumps and judging distances,

preperation reading the terrain, speed and you wear a helmet too!

snowboarding is definatly the closest, but thats only on snow, so rollerblading and skateboarding would help alot.

twin tip waterskis, there are a few companies that make them and it is as close to skiing as u can get, my friend has a rail that he hits and u can learn flips/ spins into the water

dude are you serious???

that is SO sick

ive tried wakeboarding some and it was pretty fun

but i really want to try this

have any info on where to get them/price and all that stuff man??

dont know how snowboarding is similar. but inline is deffinately the best summer sport to do (well unless u have a boat and can find twin tip water skis). Theres that one chick who was a pro inline skater had never skiid (or not much), moved to whistler for like 2 years and then went pro in skiing. Coincidence?

not that it has anything to do with skiing but i rock climb every day in the summer and now im fuckin jacked so crashing isnt so bad anymore and it probably hurts the snow more than it does me. seriously i was beast at the beginning of the season

I'm gonna be rollerbalding this summer. I know it'll at least make it some I'm not as much of a pussy to hit rails. But really any thing that involves jumping and speed will help. I was better at the beginning of this season than I was at the end of last season, and I just rode bmx all summer. Not evn that often.

the only problem with rollerblading when you're bad at it is that it looks fucking gay, i'm not hating on rollerblading but if you go to any street spots or parks where there are other people(skateboarders) expect to be laughed at. As the saying goes, "rollerblading is like getting a blowjob from a guy, it's fun until you look down and realize how gay it is" or something along those lines.

Thats sweet I have a buddy thats really into water skiing im going to get him to pick some of these up. I had no idea they existed. Sound sick.

dude thats exactly what i do is inline and downhill bike. straight up skating helps soo much with rails and a lil with jumps. andd dh biking is jsut sick u shoudl do that too.

im on a waterski team and i hav never heard of twin waterskis but i want some i wakeboard, jump waterski, barefoot waterski and i have treid inline skating so figure out something u like and do it

rollerblading is alot of fun and helps. it helped me sooo much this year for skiing for switch ons and switch ups and 270 ons and off ect.

downhill mountainbiking but thats so expensive after good pads a good bike and a good full face (my lid was $350)

and yea as mentioned above freestyle walking helps SO MUCH with spins

in my opinion, anything.. biking is good, skating is good, inline is good, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, waterskiing, trampoline.. anything with excercise and helps your balance.

i usualy just end up getting really drunk or do drugs

i used to skate alot but i keep getting hurt so i kinda quit doing stairs n shit longboarding is made fun tho not really ski related

who cares... i impress skateboarders all the time at the park actually... and the only reason people talk shit or hate on something is because they feel threatened by it in some way... everyone knows rolling is legit...
