Non-Freestyle Skiis

I have a pair of Atomic Carve skiis and I like to go off the jumps alot. I was out my second time and I went off a jump, landed ok but the tip of one of my skiis fell off. I got them replaced but I was wondering if normal Alpine Skiis break when jumping or do people just use freestyle skiis because they're easier?

people hit jumps before twintips, and most twintips are shitty skiis anyways.

Freestyle skis are made for jumping, rotation and stability in landing and take offs. The binding are more center mount then set back and the sidcut tends to be more symetric. Alot of the skis that are coming out now are wider under the foot for more stability on rails, and landings.

Hey, i have Atomic carve skis as well (9.18's) and i love them. I've jumped them like no other for two full years straight and ive never damaged them. It's defective if the tip falls off. I know you can buy replacement tips, not sure where, but you can. They just snap right on. Something must be wrong if they have fallen off that easily because my friend needed to use pliers and shit to pull his off and he said it was super hard. It might just be that one tip thats busted, not the whole ski. Ive run my tips in a straight wall of snow while goin really fast and nothing happened, so get them checked out, or see if its only the tip or the ski.

Guys who drop 30ft+ cliffs have been doing that on 'normal' skis for decades, moron. It's either your material or it's probably you.

Nothing wrong with using skis like that in the park. I used to ski on Atomic 10.20s, the only problems with that was the weight of the ski and the fact that they are really stiff.

Twin Tips are generally lighter and softer making landings a little easier to handle. If you're a good skier don't worry about it, especially if you like to rip all over the mountain.

 
Landing on your tails with your weight back causes your tips to slap the hard snow/ice. This is what makes tip fall off or delam. Don't land backseat.

you can ski with both and jump with both and still get air but i think things just get old and fall apart so bye new skiis every year or two year!
