it seems like now more than ever Non 'core' ski companies are realizing that the future of skiing lies in freeskiing, salomon, rossi dynstar and volkl and atomic are all adding new and more skis to appeal to the growing newschool skiing niche, and im personally stoked that were getting big enough that the big ass euro companies are starting to put us in front of racers.........so props to all them

there's plenty of twins to pick from this year already, but it's funny to go into most ski shops and they have a wall of carvers and 3 pairs of twins

rossignol's freeride division is completely seperate from the race or even alpine sectors of the company. They reach out to pros like philou for marketing and all pro riders for ski construction. I think the larger corps have core companies within them in SOME cases, I like rossi a lot after being so frustrated with dynastar only offering the lbf (switch landings in pow impossible, watch red tape and see how frustrated their own riders are that they don't have a full powder twin. Oh NOW they offer it, my lbfs are four years old and I have long switched just like every other rider, the tms have become a beginner ski which is a shame b/c they have possibly the greatest team. Some are good rossi and some are bad (dynastar) and they have the same parent company! Don't judge the core employees of a larger corp by thier co workers or parent companies. Atlantaski is the worst he dominates the forums and offers nothing.

I think dynastar is a pretty sick company personally. The TMs are such a nice ski for everything. They are cool people too. I broke my old concept jrs a few years back after a year of use and they gave me the TMs for 180. They are a great company.

watch in ten years, all skis will be twins with the exception of racing skis and such. the funny thing i think is this. if you can spend 500 on a ski that only goes one way, and you could spend that same 500 on a ski that goes both ways, why would you buy the ski that only goes one way? people are retarted.

its not really funny. if they only sold twins then they would be out of buisness. freeskiing is dope but it still such a small percentage of the skiing industry. thats why its such a small part of ski shops.

-Nell Cop

/\ what the fuck are you saying? if everybody bought twins instead of regular skis ski shops wouldnt go out of business. the twintip rack would wrap around the store and the regular skis would have the small dinky rack like most shops today, thats all. if a shop is selling skis it doesnt matter what kind they are.

hears the dill: not totally but alot of skiers who buy skis in shops suck and are tourists. They dont want twin tips. Alot of people that have twins dont even want to ski switch. Right now the average ski bought in a shop is probably an intermediate carver. People that buy those skis havent ever even though about skiing switch let alone buying twintips. thats why the industry is so small.

Racing will always be ahead of freeskiing in terms of major ski manufacturing maketing/focus, but thats ok with me. Symms made some really insightful posts on my thats cool.

One of the shops near me has one pair of twins. Before Christmas they had 1 pair of PE's and fujatives, 4 pairs of 1080's. A lot of skis have turned up tails that aren't high enough to be considered twin tips. I think a lot of people are going to start buying twins, but not to ski switch. But what's wrong with that? As long as people are buying them, the industry will get more money and the skis will be less expensive and better.

I don't deny there are bad things in the US right now, hell, 51% of the country to be exact. But god damnit, our country being fat is NOT a problem. I do't give a shit how fat people are. hell, fat kids are harder to kidnap, that means our country is safer.

I just meant dynastars team was decent, top ranking just like the others, only their linup isn't like the others, the tm is the only full twin ever made by them, concepts were almost and lbf's = same, enough for switch takeoffs and shit, but not landing in more than a 1/2 of snow (switch).

And above they should have given you tm's for free if the damage was normal use around 1 year, not 180. I had no prob getting warranties from dyna after NUMEROUS years, that doesn't make their linup of product choices any better. I have been loyal to them for years until recently.

yes, there are many ski shops in Atlanta. there are 5 shops. 2 shops have 9 or 10 different twins.

there's a heap of twin companies starting out now, i wonder in a few years whether the production will be like snowboards, where burton makes like a hundred different boards a year. At least it seems like it, and also will u be able to chose between heaps of extablished companies, some of which are around now and really small?

Personally id like to see some more interesting topsheets and bases, there are hardly any cool bases atm

See, there's three kinds of people: dicks, pussies, and assholes. Pussies think everyone can get along, and dicks just want to fuck all the time without thinking it through. But then you got your assholes, Chuck. And all the assholes want us to shit all over everything! So, pussies may get mad at dicks once in a while because pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes, Chuck. And if they didn't fuck the assholes, you know what you'd get? You'd get your dick and your pussy all covered in shit!

Dynastar set it striaght. Few years back they promoted their new school products by offering mad discounts. Stores got pissed though, so it had to stop. Anyways, moral is that the first big company to really start to push it might have been dyna. Bummer that their skis fall apart, but in their defense, skis arent made for rails.

your right about the lbfs screwing up switch in pow

if it is really true, how did he fit all the fish in aquariums on his boat?- switch-9, on noahs ark during the great flood

i want to see volkl develop even more. their skis are sick, but if they had a whole line of twins, it'd be incredible.

Good Fun With A Hand Gun.

Future Canadian

my prediction is that in a few years they are going to making nothing but twintips. expect for the racers and stuff of course. but like if little sally wanted some new skis shed have to buy twins just cuz that will be the norm. and anyone who skis will have a pair even if they dont ski backwars or jib or anything like that.

i dunno but ive been told, u never die and u never grow old

N.S.P.G.

^that's what im saying! nobody listens to me... it doesnt matter if people don't want to ride switch or never thought about riding switch. for some of these people they are safer. ever see someody turn too far at high speeds they cant handle? WHAM! concussion. i've also heard that its easier to carve on twins, but that's just hearsay idk for sure.

'I thought i was going to dead.'

-Charles Gagnier

^ ive heard that too, something about the shape of the ski holds it closer to the slope, soemthing teknikal like that....as for Volkl, theyve got a pretty decent lineup right now, the V-Expressions are dank park sticks, the Karma's are awesome all mountain skis, and the Gotama....well..the Gotama just puts people in their place

'core shots just mean you're badass.' -itsbackfliptime

twins will never be the 'norm' they dont stick in the snow very well.

to progress, rules must be broken.

'And above they should have given you tm's for free if the damage was normal use around 1 year, not 180.'

he broke junior tms and got adult ones at a discount if i read it correctly.

volkl has their shit together in every ski...no just twins but every ski

Mass Chaos

Atomic is always going to be a race company. They aren't going to put newschool in front of racing.

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

fucking kill yourself, youre right the first company to mass produce a twin isn't core. fuck off and die

Not everyone buys twins because 75% of skiers are little kids, 50 year old guys who just want to carve, not hit the park, and moms who try to stay on the groomed trails

'Police arrested two kids yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off.'

Theres not a core ski on the market that I would buy over my Volkls, all core companies are, are the beginnings of big ki companies. Think salomon, volkl, volant, and rossi all just appeared, no they had someone with a vision that began them too, they jsut beat the newschools to the chace and now have a better more dependable product.

impossible is really just a lack of determination

hahah sherlocke i love your thoughts on twin tips. Why buy a ski for 500 dollars that goes one way when you can buy a ski for 500 dollars that goes both ways? I never thought of it like that, but i like it a lot. Im gonna keep that one in mind

jibba jabba

Here is my forecast for the future of skiing: Ski companies will start developing a very new kind of ski. it will be an ultra-fat twin. people will ride with both feet on one ski; but their feet will be sideways, and they will ride with a sideways facing stance. I am stoked to see skiing progress to that point.

yes, skiing on twins when you have no intention of skiing backwards would be considered 'poser' or 'wannabe'. Skis will keep coming out with and without twins. Some of you are in denial about the size of the freeskiing movement. You people who are 'core' make up about 2% of the skiing market at best. We're lucky that there are so many twins considering the sales numbers that they have generated so far.

Atomic Tweaks rip so fuckin' hard, they must be the most fun twintip out there.
