NOLS Course

lol dude you came to the wrong forum for this. go hit up some education forum, you'll probly get better feedback

my buddy did a backpacking one last summer. From what he tells me about it, it sounds like a fucking awesome time, something I definitely wish I could do.

A friend of mine is doing a semester in South America in the fall and I think it's through the same organization. It sounds pretty sweet to me, and I imagine it's better than spending your semester in classrooms and lecture halls.

my brother did a month long course in wyoming last summer. he said it was hard as fuck but extremely rewarding in the end.

^ yeah my buddy did a month long one up in the wind river range in wyoming. Sounds super fun, just a lot of money. i think itd be more fun if you just went on a gnarly backpacking and climbing trip with your buds and save like 2 grand haha

highly recommend doing a semester if you can. you learn a lot about yourself, other people and how to correctly deal with them, outdoors/natural environment, and a shit ton of technical skills depending on what you do. all while getting to see amazing places.

I took a year off after hs and did a course in the fall semester and it was basically me and a bunch of college graduates who had no idea what they were doing with their lives. I learned so much about life and people in general cause it was my first time really being off on my own. my perspectives were changed quite a bit to say the least.

I didn't really save money or anything for school afterwards, but the credits made it so i didn't have to take some bullshit elective credits that I felt were a waste of time. Plus, nols is highly regarded by countless corporations and organizations such as harvard business school to name one, so it's a good thing to have on your resume if you're going down certain paths.

I did a two week back-country skiing course and absolutely loved it, if you can do a semester, then do it. You won't regret it

How is this the wrong forum? He is asking a question, and I know there are at least several people on here that have done it and could help him

My ex did it. From what I understood about it, it sounds like a good way for a bunch of rich, spoiled, city kids to go into the mountains and come back with a certificate that says they are the new Jeremiah Johnson. Just my personal opinion

yeah ive heard this too, but im actually going to be using the skills i learn for my career, not just using the course to avoid college

Im looking into the semester in the rockies for spring semester. only downside ive found so far is that telemark is the only option for skiing.
