I have a photo assignment to photograph 'noise'. our teacher gave everyone in the room words to photograph...I got noise. I don't have a lot of ideas, so I'm hoping this thread will spark some. everyone on NS is so different, it'll be cool to see what others have to say. So type the first thing that comes to mind when you think of noise.

Bass..slow shutter on a subwoofer would look pretty cool. Though probably not what you're looking for.

Hmm.. off the top of my head:

- any musical instrument...

- highway traffic...

- an exhaust pipe (I don't know why, that makes me think of an engine revving or starting up)...

- a person screaming

I'll work on more and get back to you.

Thats a good idea... anything that vibrates when making noise... drum, guitar string... would be awesome with a slow shutter speed.

Something else like that would be if you shot a pot or pan or something falling towards the floor... if you could catch it right before it hits.. I like that, cause it's the anticipation of the noise... it's recognizable, so everyone will be able understand the sound that the picture conveys..

try to find a bell or a tuning fork, then hit it really hard so it shaking really fast and get a picture of the motion

 
take a picture at night of a highway with a slow shutter speed so all the cars get blurred.....it could look sweet if its done well.

or you could get a picture of a person drumming with just the sticks and the head of the drum in the picture

I would definatley go for something blurred. It would be hard to get the feeling of noise if it was clear. I like the pan idea alot. I might have to do that myself.
