Noise cancelling headphones

I need some sort of headphones, ideally over ear, for really loud environments. I want good sound and solid bass but what I'm really concerned about is how much noise it blocks. I dont want to spend a shitload of money but I guess you get what you pay for. I haven't bought any of this stuff in a long time so I'm open to any suggestions.

Skullcandy if you want cheap, decent quality, decent noise canceling.

Sennheiser, AKG, or Audio Technica for better, more expensive ones.

the skullcandy proletariats are the only ones with actually noise canceling. I got them from amazon for $50. they're great for airplanes, blocking the engine noises. keep in mind noise canceling headphones don't block voices, more acoustic sounds, but when they're on my head and I'm listening to music I usually can't hear what anyone is saying either.

I dont need the bass you get with skullcrushers, that's overkill. I want a good all around sound, I dont need an actual set of noise cancelling headphones but just something that will block a good deal of noise. I dont want to spend a shitload of money cause eventually I'll break em, but what can a guy get for under 150$? Under 100$? Whats a guy gotta spend to get good sound without going overboard?

And how are the TI's?

You want headphones that are actually noise cancelling. Not big headphones that go loud like all that skullcandy garbage. Real noice cancelling headphones have a tiny microphone in them that listens to what's outside and somehow blocks it out. They usually require their own batteries.

yeah, that's what mine are, it's ridiculous. any wind sound when I'm in the car is gone with a flip of the switch, I love it.

The whole skullcrushers idea is a load of crap, I want to hear my music not something that sounds like godzilla takin a shit. I dont want a fucking microphone in my headphones blocking shit either. I just want something that when listened to at a relatively high volume cancels out a reasonable amount of engine noise so I can hear my tunes, my own thoughts, and a little bit of the tractor because I need to hear what I'm doing. Right now I'm using earbuds under the jobbies we use when we sight in deer guns. I can hear the loader to an extent (so I know if the blades are engaged or not) but I can hear my music without a 1000 watt sub on my head. I think I'll get similar performance from a set of around ear, sealed headphones.

you might want to look into some Shure earbuds if over the ear isn't a total must.  they do well to block out a lot (i mean a lot) of exterior noise and superb sound quality.  you can get some for well under $100 and then it goes up pretty much all the way into rediculousness ($500+) from there.

they Skullcandy T.I.'s look really good and apparently work really well they are 89$ but are a very good price for what you are getting

skullcandy's are sooo sick for the price that they are, it pisses me off wehn ppl hate on skullcandy. its a company that supports our sport and they are really nice headphoens

That's the problem, they aren't nice headphones. You wouldn't buy a ski that's absolutely horrible just because the company is cool and supports the industry, why would you buy a headphone?

Which model(s)? I gave the HD280 Pro a good long look but I think that might be a bit of overkill.

noise cancelling really isn't worth it. it only cancels loud, constant and consistent noises like the humming of an airplane or lawnmower. if you're talking about blocking out things like conversations and such, it won't do anything. i have some nice comfy bose headphones for about $130. they aren't noise cancelling, but they do muffle outside noise.

I had some shure e2c (I think thats right) inner earphones and they were pretty good at noise cancelling, but I broke the cord. They had awesome sound too, real clarity. I hear Etymonic make the best value, quality earphones, they just don't look like hot shit.

its totally worth it on planes, it kicks aaaasss. one flick of the switch and the noise goes from OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to ooooooooooo.

skullcandy is so shitty, like its ok and they look pretty cool but seriously get off their nuts, if you want something with decent quality buy bose or sennheiser or akg or pretty much anything besides skullcandy.

ps: i own a pair of crushers and use them, but they are nothing special at alllllll.
