I'm not claiming to be no hardcore punk, but i know enough to know that NOFX hasn't been around all the year because of Nirvana, don't get me wrong i have been in the seattle area for all my life, but Kurt is No Joey, and Nirvana are not gradfathers.

 
I love Blink, they are a really good band that does not suck. I think they are the most original band, and they are the best punk band ever. I also think Britanny Spears is fugly.

i don't think so i say there justy try hard pop punk, they go on like mtv and all that shit that ain't punk, there not original they look up to bands like bad religion and stuff, they play for the money not the art.

anyway thats my opinion, so yeah think what you want, i know nirvana arent grandfathers of punk but they did have heaps to do with modernising the punk culture of not caring too much, and being open minded to most things.

They ahve some good stuff. Most of their older stuff tho. Not muh into their newer stuff. Sorta weak.

I also think it's a disgrace what they did to Rancid's song, 'Olympia, WA' when they covered it. Whatever tho. They are pretty decent.

Oh, by the way, they are far from the forefathers of punk dude. The Clash started to make the sound, then The Ramones took it a bit farther, and The Sex Pistols added the insanity.

nofx fantastic... im a fan for certain.. punk in drublic was the first punk rock cd i ever owned... as far as them being godfathers of punk... maybe not, but they sure have a huge chunk of it, half of the popular punk rock bands out there are on fat mikes label, and nofx has to be one of the longest lasting groups thatis still around... big influences on tons of bands...

i agree that velvet underground / pistols / ramones, are the godfathers of punk, but nofx is the band that all curent bands are based around, u either want to sound like nofx or u dont, they are uniquie and individual, the blink 182 of punk, they may not be the fathers, but definatly a contributing band
