Noahs ark found

Haha right as the shitstorm around the whole molestation cover up was reaching its zenith the papacy announced it would be putting the shroud on tour. Hilarious that even after its shown completely possible to recreate the shroud with ancient techniques people still believe that bullshit.

noones saying they were...

some people believe in the bible, some people dont.

let em be hombre, you're makin a scene.

i found this to be super interesting, and this seems like a good venue to share it. there actually is substantial geologic evidence supporting a great flood in the middle east (the center of most civilizations at the time) that is potentially the root of many of modern religions' deluge myths. did it cover the whole world? no. did someone load up a boat full of animals? certainly not. but it gives some perspective as to the origins of the myth, and history shows that whenever we can't explain something, we attribute it to a god/gods etc. read up and enjoy!

This thread has some solid entertainment value. I really think posting religious related stuff on NS should be ban worthy though, it always ends in some shit show debate.

obviously no one here that is arguing against noah's ark has ever read the story. so many flaws in the facts and statements they've made about it

What does that have to do with anything? I was simply stating what the story was for the genius who didn't know it. Personally I don't believe it in. I feel as if all religion is just bull shit to make people feel that they are part of something bigger. When really we are all insignificant

More blatant misinterpretation by Evangelicals. When will they realize that nearly all of the Old Testament was written in the literary style of a myth or legend and was meant to convey allegorical, not literal truth?

SAY WHAT?!!!!

Its pretty simple to understand that the bible is simply an exaggeration and embellishment of events put to use under false pretenses. Its easy to forget that religion was created and is propagated by a few very intelligent people and embraced by a large number of fearful people.

Agreed. NS is a shit hole when it comes to religious debate. Every religious thread should be deleted unless it poses some real intellect behind it.

false.

a valid argument is one where the conclusion necessarily follows from the premises regardless of the truth of the premises. (that is to say if the premises were true, the conclusion would be true)

a sound argument is a valid argument and the premises are all true.

Bosh got it right by pointing out the sheer evidence as to why the story of the ark could never have logically happened.

Is the bible factual? Certainly not all the time. Does it contain religious truth? That is a question worth arguing about. Just because some dudes found some wood on top of a mountain doesn't mean it's noah's ark and the bible is/isn't true.
/thread please

dude you need to read before you submit shit. you said, "the ark came to rest on a fucking mountain while the water receded thus why if we did find the ark it wouldn't be at sea level." the ark wasn't found at sea level, the article said it was found 13,000 ft up that mountain. anyway, i highly doubt this is noah's ark but it'd be sick if it was.

Wow, seriously all you atheist on NS need to go smoke a blunt or something because you are overreacting to the situation wayyyy to much. Do you guys have a life or do you have to sit here on NS and demoralize every single christian. Really you guys are all a bunch of fucking tools. If you are pissed about the fact that someone actually believes in something then you need to move to china. If your an atheist an practically yelling in a thread about the beliefs of someone then you are the biggest doucher. I would seriously love to punch all you pussy's in the face because you are that fucking cognitively challenged. Can you guys not get over the fact that people actually believe in some sort of higher power? Because people have believed in some god/gods for eternity.

Lul, Noah's Ark is not real, it is a myth. Besides the fact that the whole 40 days 40 nights story, there was no flood that covered the Earth, then receded in 40 days. Even if that part was true, how the hell did a boat get on a fucking mountain?

the problem is that atheists are treated like shit, like every president points out how "christian" he is just so he can be accepted.

christians are literally ruling the country and THIS is wrong, not that someone beliefs in a higher power.

if you want more insight why every form of organized christianity is absolute bullshit, pm me.

the same way whale bones are found on mountains....This is not Noahs Ark, but its not crazy that its just a boat from thousands of years ago....

the problem is that it's easier for religious people to argue that it is the ark than it is for everyone else to argue that it isn't.

All they have to do is point out that the bible says this is it.

My question is this....if this mountain has been famous for being the resting place of the ark, why has no one ever found anything on it before? People have apparently been going on ark-finding expeditions on it for years.

And in my opinion, just because they find a wooden boat doesn't mean shit. Prove that some guy had 2 of every animal on it, and then maybe i'll start to believe you. And don't just say because the bible says so.

Sometimes... Joe Rogan annoys the shit out of me... other times... I almost die laughing. I just almost died laughing.

l think He's saying that if there was a gigantic boat from that time period, it would be the arc. Because back then they wouldn't have the need to build a giant boat like that...

haha true, thanks for the correction. i was trying to think of an example and was going to use lake lake bonnevile in salt lake city but thought not everyone would know it so i used that, didnt think it through.

StartFragmentStartFragmentNobody talks so constantlyabout God as those who insist that there is no God.Heywood BrounEndFragmentEndFragment

has anyone mentioned how the earth has a fixed amount of fresh water and that its pretty much impossible to elevate the water levels to however many thousands of feet that the bible says? i dont wanna read through 3 pages of rebel atheist 13 year olds blabbering to see.

Well correct me if Im wrong but isn't our country's principals built upon christian values. And no your wrong every president does not spew out "about how christian he is" and I would love to see a quote from any president that treats atheist like shit.(I'll save you time and tell you there aren't any).
Lastly, I never asked for an explanation from you about why organized christianity is bullshit. I was simply ranting about how most christians on this site are reverent towards other peoples beliefs while people like you are assholes sounding like a bunch of fucking dictators. You guys literally need to pull your head out of your ass and realize that people on this earth for the rest of eternity will believe in god, and there is NOTHING you or any other atheist can do about it. SO STOP trying to convert us. Nothing you say will ever break my faith with god.

maybe, noah's ark, like other stories, is not literally true, but a metaphor to provide a lesson or explanation for the early jewish people.. Judaism, in the old testament, was at war with certain beliefs from groups around them, like Idolatry, is it impossible to believe that God maybe offered Abraham a metaphor to provide an explanation to the many people around him of which he was leading?.. To be a good christian does not mean believing every last little detail, It is called Perspectivalism, you leave science to explain Natural revelations... and you leave the bible to explain special revelations ....

rant\

First off, of course there aren't any quotes from presidents saying mean things towards atheists. The candidates still want their votes. Same reason why every politician dodges drug questions, abortion questions, sexuality questions, etc. They don't want to alienate people.

Second. Just because a religious group holds a set of ideals that most other people hold, doesn't give them the right to claim that they are their ideals in the first place. Being kind to others, doing what is right, blah blah. Those aren't 'Christian values' those are societal values that were around for thousands of years before that guy tried to stab his son and some black dude got nailed to a board.

Last, your idea that 'people on this earth for the rest of eternity will believe in god' is so naive it made me cringe. Are you aware of the things science has proven in the last 200 years? You sound like Insane Clown Posse with not knowing how magnets work. It seems like on a monthly basis there's some cool scientific breakthrough explaining something we had no idea how it worked. All of those things used to be attributed to God and its only a matter of time until we figure most shit out. In my opinion, its not only my right but my duty to constantly point out how stupid organized religion is. How people can still believe in magic is beyond my comprehension when we as humans have learned so much in just a short time on this earth.

I literally dont give a fuck what yo have to say.. God works in many ways, one of which science can explain. Why do you guys feel obligated to downgrade christians but when other religions come up you become reverent. Its because your an asshole. Go tell a buddhist monk that he's completely wrong for what he believes.
PS I wish I could kick you in the balls right now because you sir are an asshole.

It sounds to me like you have some subconscious uncertainties about your own faith. Calling people pussy's and faggots for being atheists rather than offering any sort of logical premise on your faith you spew insults and shout nobody can break your faith.
It is easier for me to conceptualize based on the scientific fact of what has been discovered rather than blindly follow a faith that a deity pointed his finger and created humans only to inherently suffer through sorrow, early death, and misery. Not to rule out the possibility of an omnipotent being who did create us, but it isn't likely. Even more unlikely is the fact that his son was Jesus and the hundreds of other types of religions before Christianity are wrong.

This, i am catholic and even i dont believe this is noahs ark. As someone posted earlier, Noahs ark is a fictional story based on moral.
