TJ Schiller injured, pulls out of X Games
On Monday afternoon, while training in the park at Keystone, Colorado, TJ Schiller landed badly on a trick and tore his ACL and meniscus. He will be out for the season."Immediately, TJ knew that he had injured his knee," Schiller's manager Fergie Cancade told ESPN. He was brought down to the Keystone Medical Center, where he was examined by the doctors. After some preliminary tests, the doctors concluded that Schiller likely had a third degree tear of his ACL.Tuesday afternoon, he went to Vail's Steadman Hawkins Clinic, where Dr. Richard Steadman concluded that it was a third degree tear of his ACL. Schiller received an MRI, where they found that he had a torn ACL and a ruptured medial meniscus. "The doctors have recommended that TJ remain in Summit County until the swelling goes down and it is safe to travel," Cancade said. "He will spend Christmas with his family in Vernon, BC, and prepare for surgery."Schiller will undergo two surgeries: one for the meniscus and one eight weeks later for the ACL.Schiller was skiing with Tom Wallisch, Nick Martini, Banks Gilberti and other pros in town for this week's first stop of the Winter Dew Tour, which is taking place this weekend at Breckenridge. On Tuesday, Schiller officially pulled out of January's Winter X Games slopestyle and big air. He says he will spend this season focusing on rehabilitating and coming back even stronger for the fall of 2011.Last winter in the ski Big Air at X Games 14, Schiller landed the first-ever double corked 1620 thrown in competition, earning himself a perfect score. He placed second behind Bobby Brown, who earned two perfect scores. Schiller won ski slopestyle at X Games 13 in 2009.

He never does, but damn thats a sucky way to start the season! Just switched ski sponsor and all.. I was expecting so much from him..

Get ready soon TJ !!

vibes for sure. i have no doubt tj will be back chargin hard next season. will he be able to make it up to the glaciers this summer at think?

Weird that he's doing meniscus 8 weeks before the acl. I had mine done at the same time. His meniscus must be really fucked or something.

And what's on his left leg? did he hurt that too?

oh the back seat icy park gets him again... huge bummer, but the risks we take as skiers.
my advice? you're the old, old age of 26. take your world-class park skills to the BC and start flowing down lines with switch tricks mixed in. Hasn't really been done yet. Oh, and wear dually, burly knee braces at all times--even once you're recovered. Who cares about muscle dependency--it's all about prevention!

they are probibally sewing the meniscus down, as opposed to doing a menisectomy....where they remove the meniscus? if you sew it down, you need that extra time non-weight bearing. when they just snip it out, you can walk again in a week, so it doesnt slow down your acl recovery

man thats a total bummer.. isn't this ACL #2 for TJ?
He came back insanely hard from his first one so its probably gonna be even crazier this time.
Good luck TJ! Vibes!

I HAVE THE SAME SHIRT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii dawg that's a bummer

That sucks... I only saw him on Sat night at the summit fiolm festival awards in Breck.... seemed stoked....

yeah last time he blew out his knee he won x games the next year. vibes for a quick recovery and some domination next season.

teej turned 24 in october haha...

trust me his BC skills are already ridiculous and the when he blew his knee a few eyars ago, he came back and dominated x games slope, so you know this comeback will be twice as big.

he's got this. no doubt in my mind.

chug just said it. Last time he got back, he took an Xgames gold medal. Not too worried about his comeback. Allthough that really sucks for him. Get well soon man

didnt he only have like 1-2 seasons in before his last knee injury? that sucks... heal up

Dude! Thats spot on. Are you a freakin doctor or something? Usually all you hear on this site is speculation but your analysis is spot on. +k for not being an idiot.

haha thanks man. thats really nice to hear. I am an Athletic Trainer, so I have seen my fair share of ACL recoveries. +k for not being a dick haha
