The organizers of the school thanksgiving this year were all american soccermoms (im a swede from switzerland)and of ycourse wanted us all to say thankyou collectively after lunch. me and my euro frends boycotted and left without saying thanks, since were euro not american and dont beleive in that shit. Now its hilarious because no american will speak to me for like a month.

and the party never ends
 
Why be a dick when you're in another country? They fed you, you should be thankful. I'm sure you're homeland is proud of you giving them a bad image. Congrats.
 
they are in switzerland man, and if anyone r being dicks its them. they try to impose evry fucking american tradition there is on us. weve had to arrange proms and shit, and they actually make us do shit for them too. they think they own the fucking place man
 
Why is your school organizing a thanksgiving then? And who cares? Turkey is fucking delish. If they're giving it away free, get in on that shit and be grateful.

im not in your country, im in switzerland man, in an international school where people of other religions and cultures shouldnt be forced to sit in a ring and say thanks in something we dont beleive in. we dont force them to dress up as santa lucia and walk around school with a white nightgown and a magic stick. we just give them buns and get out of there for our traditions part of school.
 
They're forcing Thankgiving on you...wow. Big Fucking Deal. It's Thanksgiving. Yes, it's an American holiday, but do you know anything about it? There's nothing wrong with the premise of Thanksgiving. And like I said, it's fucking turkey, delish. They're soccer moms. They do shit like that. We have to deal with them here as well. Just ignore them, eat the turkey, and say thanks. It's not that big of a deal.
 
If you don't like the fact that they're showing you part of our traditional customs, why the fuck are you at an international school that supports education in other cultures and traditions. That's fucking stupid balls. If you don't like being exposed, go to a different school.

So is it really easier to spend all this energy whining about it than it would be to say "thank you" once? Even if you want to ignore other cultures, you're at a school that embraces them so it'd be much easier if you just went along and did what everybody else does.

Oh wait, you said you didn't want to participate, but you're down for exposure. You're truly an idiot. You can't fully be exposed to a culture without experiencing things they do. So eat the turkey, and be happy, be full. Don't worry if they believe in God, or if they support "Uncle Sam." You'd support your military if they were at war? Even if you didn't support the war? Or are you so shallow that if you had friends who went over, you'd turn your back on them because they're stuck there because it wasn't their decision to go fight. Fuck you dude. Open your eyes.

i don't think that he should have to say thankyou to god if he doesn't want to. he said thanks to the organizers and thats cool. but why does he not have the right to not say anything when a different set of beleifs are being imposed on him? he was cool with the holiday, but he didn't want to thank god.
 
did he anywhere say he was an immigrant? no, he goes to a school in switzerland and is from sweden. i'm sure he loves it how every american thinks that they are more important and better than everybody else.
 
how are all you people getting the idea that religion was imposed upon him? Saying thankyou has nothing to do with religion, and Thanksgiving has nothing to do with religion either. wow...
 
im glad someone finally said thanksgiving doesnt really have to do with religion and when you thank god its not just the christian god it can be whatever you think made it possible for you to have a nice life, and if you think that you will just be dead and just not exist anymore than fucking thank yourself for being such a fucking sweet ass person. i mean come'on i hate when people bitch about praying, i mean if theirs a group prayer and you're not down then think about that one chick who put her legs behind her head during gym class naked.
 
i totally agree with the creator on this one, cuz its not your holiday and u shouldve have to say thanks. The only thing i want to know is, was the meal optional? Cuz if it was and u didnt want to partake in an american holiday, then u shouldnt have eaten the food or said thanks.
 
You missed it completely. If he doesn't want that to occur, he's going to the wrong school. It's an international school, and from the description, he's there by choice. If he's not into that, then he's in the wrong place, and should quit bitching.
 
first of all, thanksgiving is non-religious.

and you have acess to the internet, which automatically puts you in the top few percent of people in the world, social status wise. you are attending some kind of international school, which many people would never have a chance to do.

so I would say that you have a lot to be thankful for.
 
yeah point taken but these people made it religious. they were referring specifically to the christian god (whatever it is called) and to jesus, and as an atheist i shouldnt be forced to join that ceremony
 
They don't have thanksgiving in their country. They don't understand wants its really about so they don't care. They are not insulting the american way of life. Let it go
