^ exactly. You're not going to be forced to use quotes if you don't want to. It's just something that we've had some requests for and it will be interesting to see how they get used.

Ever since I've been working with NS, whenever we make an update there's always a bit of confusion and some users that are totally against the change (whatever it may be), but once everyone gives it a chance it usually works out for the best.

it's all very exciting.
 
If they get really really abused we can get rid of them... but we may as well see how it works out and get some feedback once all the excitement has settled down.

I could see stickies being useful once in a while, like the threads for NS radio where everyone posts questions for the guests.

But stickies should be used seldom, if at all.

stickies = little markers that keep the threads at the top

quotes= little button that qoutes a reply instead of having to do ^^^^^^ that.

I would like to point out that you could totally ignore the 'quote button' and still do the ^^^ thing if you prefer that.

Unless NoPoles did something really drastic...

 
people who are down with quote will use them, and the rest of us can just go ^^^. simple as that, no?

whether you think they are a good idea or a bad idea, stickies and quotes, give it a chance. its a free site you cant complain about anything. besides, a little change is a good thing. if quotes do get abused its not like it cant be changed.

heres an example. i used to go on skimonline.com everyday, it was my NS back then. they had a unique forum and it was chill. then they changed to the generic formula and i never go there anymore, ever. the end.

I'll still use arrows if I'm replying to a post that's really close above me (up to around three I think), but it gets annoying if you go ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ and you have to scroll up and count the arrows to figure who he's talking to. Quotes would be useful for that
