No Poles! Oh Goodness!

Until quite recently I have only seen a few people skiing without poles and it never bothered me at all. I even did it every now and then because it helps quite a bit with grabs and it feels cool. But as of lately I have seen a considerable about of people skiing without poles and its becomeing a trend! whats up with that?

Probably something to do with the video of Pep and Andy and PC that everyone has seen. Now everyone is seeing what it really is like rather than just directing hate at the no polers...

anyone read the profile of TJ in freeskier where he talks about forgettin his poles and then it became a trend cause someone saw him doing it.. and he said he wants to make it clear he skis with poles.. forgot those people and the no poles cause its cool.. it only works to become more air aware.. not a style..

I do it when I goto my local hill cause when i am teaching kids how to ski I dont use poles so on my free time I just dont use poles anyway. Its actually not that much different except for a little more freedom with your hands. And its also cool when you're the only kid on the hill not using poles and still killing it. Anywhere else I'll probably bring my poles just because ill probably plan on skiing other stuff besides the park as well.

I have seen a ton of people without poles...it much be the next big thing...but i still like mine :)

I like to ski things outside teh park too, so if i dont have my poles on a steep mogley ass run, i eat it.

i ski with and without depending on my mood, tons of kids biting it now because of the pep/andy edit...

its alot of fun me and my bro rory did it and then all the little kids started doin it and then we got madd at them saying they were gay cause they had no pole

also try snowblading it makes you thanks 171 skis haha

idk but its fun for a while in the park, but everybody is doing it every where. its getting kind of annoying, especail when i see people with no poles in the BC

Yeesah it certainly fun, but when it comes to filming my visual liking is for poles. Your hands are much more controlled looking with poles! I'd like to encourage people to at least film with poles, but thats just me.

i completely agree with that, since big people like wallisch are doing it alot of kids look up to tom so do it to

fun in the park, and for doing butters and dicking around.

but when i really want to rip i always use poles

i started doin it like 2 weeks ago when i saw that video of pep and andy doing it, i used to hate it, but now its sooooo cool.

kinda depens on how i feel when i get to the hill.... if im working on the hill.. no poles for sure.. and if the park is nice.. but if im in the bc i sure as shit want my poles...

yeah ive skied pole and poless off and on 4 a while

ya i used to always ski with poles, adn i thought i would try it for fun last weekend and i had so much fun. now it is becoming more popular and more people are trying it, and its realy fun. grabs are so much easier, and i feel a bi less weighed down. whatever, its fun

haha yeah myself and my friend evan actually just made the transfer like 2 weeks ago, i used to take a couple no poles runs as a joke but now i dont even bring them to the mountain

its weird getting used to for rails but for jumps it makes it a ton easier to grab

the only thing i dont like is when im seshing a rail i have to hike up higher to drop in or skate in

I've done it and its kinda fun, but i know i look like a douche when i do it and i feel off balance so i try not to. Plus i ski a lot more all mountain etc in montana so i like my poles.

it's much fun...especially riding switch

but i usually use poles, i only tried it cuz wallisch and stepp make it look like oodles and oodles of fun

I dropped the poles about 3 weeks ago, like 2 weeks before the edit came out. I was the ONLY skier at my hill no-poling it, and i do it because its super fun, but now, I look around, and other ppl are doing it as of a week ago. I did it to try somethign new, they are doing it because its a trend. pisses me off.

because theyre doing it just to be cool, not because theyre trying to be individuals. theyre just jumping on the bandwagon, something NS is very good at

i think its great kids are doing it to have fun. honestly. its when kids do it just to be "cool", and when kids do do it cuz they think theyll have better style even tho its horrible, thats what i dislike.

Yea I noticed that too. I have nothing against no poles. But I have something against people doing no poles because they saw it in the X-games or because of the Andy and Pep edit. It's beginning to be a trend...

I rocked poles on and off the past two seasons and now this season it seems to be getting all this hype....Who really cares? and for all those people that say "no poles looks really wack compared to poles", ive seen alot of people who do rock poles and look aweful and have what I consider lame styles, being able to look steezy with poles may be harder but if you can pull it off all the power to you, i wouldnt mind seeing some edits of poleless riders/post links if you gotem

Haha...speaking of no poles, I dropped them and took a flat rail today and "jerked off" and the other hand was in Nazi/Hitler salute...haha
