No poles in slopestyle

ok so i have a slopestyle comp this weekend and i cant descide what to do. I've been skiing pretty much all season with out pole but havn't competed yet... all my friends are asying i have to use poles and ill get the shit riped out of me if i dont...... what do you guys think?
 
bring em, because you can use them if you want once you get there or you could set em down and not use em at all. just more options if you bring them with you.
 
it dont matter. as long as you hyphski and go dumb, everyone will have a good time at the slideshow.
 
What's important to you? Skiing for yourself and doing what you want and having fun or doing what others think?
 
Ugh, why can't there be one thread where someone doesn't bust out this cliche. He's in a competiton, and usually in competitions you have to care what other people think, mainly the judges.
 
no, i know its sideshow. but in case you didnt catch the "hyphsk"i i was making a joke on slopestyle by calling it a "SLIDEshow". i still win.

 
Unless it's the X-Games (or some other event that actually matters), go and have fun.
 
yeah brah, do watcha want. i was in a lil comp last year, and i just wanted to have fun. and my fun park setup is no poles, and hellbents. then i told everyone i hated idea and thought that no poles and rockered skis were gay. its all about having fun.
 
dude theres only one way to getting to the x-games, and thats doing other comps. im all for hating on comps, but the kid asked a good question, and youre trying to be philisophical about it.
 
It's hardly getting philosophical about it. It's pretty obvious that if you need to ask if you need poles for a slopestyle competition, than you shouldn't care and just go and have fun. That is what skiing is about.

And to end it all it's a slopestyle comp, not a mogul comp where they are judging your actual skiing technique.

I'm sure people lose points all the time in slopestyle runs for not pole-planting.
 
i acctually did a comp about 2 years ago, were at the end of the comp the judges approched me and said had i used poles i would have got 2nd, but cuz i disn't, they gave me 5th

that was the day i started using poles again for good...
 
Shralp the whole thing w/ poles, and at the end for the last jump (if the last hit is a jump), just toss your poles, and do the sickest most tweaked out grab/spin ever. They'll like it.
 
thats why comps are so gay, they hate on anything new and progressive, or in this case, more steezy than with poles.
