No pole skier poll!! not cool

i just don't like that they had "gayer than one foot grinds" as an option. i would think that whether whoever created the poll likes one foot grinds or not, they could at least have the maturity to not use derrogatory words like gay and set an example for the bunch of 12 year olds on here.

Also, i think one foot grinds are sick on the right rail, most of you people are ragging on them cuz they remind you of rollerblading. but guess what? rollerblading is one of the craziest sports out there and deserves props even if you don't like it. and the only reason you hate it, is because society has embraced the skateboarder image and told us that inline is "gay." i find it strange that we readily crucify rollerbladers and one foot grinds because society tells us to, yet we all bitch and moan that society doesn't respect skiers, and snowboarders get all the publicity. grow up and think about what you are saying.
 
It's not like anyone who participated in the survery will have enough balls to confront you on your no pole skiing.
 
it just sucks that there is a poll about no pole skiing. It comes off as if it's someting so radical and different.
 
Mahre, Mithoefer, and Weiler do it.... show some respect. It's not like some gay epidemic that is going to catch hold of the ski industry; they're just doing what feels comfortable. You faggots are the ones comparing it to a homosexual blowjob that feels good. Perhaps you should question your own sexuality instead of worrying about something that is completely inconsequential.

To those who are offended by the poll on the pole. At one time ppl laughed at skis with twin tips many still do. But im pretty sure we can all agree that twin tips are the best thing since sliced bread. We all have different taste and if u have fun who cares!!!

Who knows one day our poles may become nuthing more than a painted fire poker!!

Learn to ski and you'll appreciate poles. Did you notice how all the people who started the sport and droped the poles realised how gay it was and got them back?

poles are for dancing. all of these kids that are being close minded about shit can die, like the progression of the sport will, if they don't open their minds.

poles do not define style, as someone said above. your skiing ability and air sense do. you know what poles were for in the first place? fucking vikings pushing themselves through the snow.
 
I was pretty interested in what people said about that. There was good options for the no poles thing too.

2.Who cares what other people think of you.I ski moguls and I get called fag constantly at big air competitions. I just remind themselves that they are idiots and they are not even worth talking to. Also in a competition, juges cannot be biased on the way you look.
 
like melvs said, just do whats fun for you. i like poles because where i ski a lot of times it is very flat, and i use them to skate, xc style.

i think if you can pull it off it's ill, and with weiler, he doesn't need poles in the midwest with his ropetow...it's hard to use those with poles so it's just a convenience really

people can do whatever they want, kids who hate on them are just jealous cause they look retarded and can't pull it off when they do it
 
why the fuck would u want to ski without poles, i really dont understand why u would wanna look like a 3 yr old without poles going down a hill, poles do play a part in skiing, obveouly u havent skiied much of a Mountain before to realize that, but w/e buddy have fun lookin like a fuck lil toddler
 
I will also say that I'm stoked that people are doing different things. It's good to have things you like and don't like.

At least people are trying new things.
 
anyone that thinks poles make skiing what it is are ridiculous. THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE ASPECT OF SKIING CAN BE DONE WITH POLES BUT NOT WITHOUT (except maybe push through the lift lines).
 
i think thats one problem with our sport, some people just arent open minded

if he doesnt use poles, thats his choice, C. Weiler is sick and he can still probably ski better than most people who use poles

1) The style of skiing is defined by the use of poles to initiate turns and keep proper form. THIS is what distinguishes us from knuckle-draggers and ski boarders.

2) Its COOL to emulate snowboarding but not to COPY it!!!!! Skiing without poles is COPYING snowboarding!

3) Ski poles provide an direct extension to the snow from your hand, the feedback and balance gained from the use of poles is part of SKIING.

4) You have OBVIOISLY not skied much if you think that poles don't help with ALL aspects of skiing. From static balance, to turning, to traversing...But I guess you enjoy being stuck on the flats with boarders??

5) Skiing w/o poles is NOT skiing, ints skiboarding on big skiboards....
 
are washington and oregon the only two places in the fucking world that are down with no poles.... no matter how much shit all of you talk andy will keep skiing without poles and soon enough you will all eat your words when you see what he is doing... also much cred to larry and brent for keeping the no poles style down at hood.
 
And Skiers will continue to rip on little mahre for copying snowboarding and having a sloppy style w/o poles

Skiing w/o poles is just like skiboarding - I have no problem with skiboarding but if you hate on skiboarding YOU are a hypocrite if you think skiing w/o poles is cool.

I am not saying it cant look good, but it is copying snown=boarding a little too much...and that is why I say "SKIING W/O POLES IS LAME!"
