No more sonics.

Who cares about the Sonics? Everyone should be steezin a P-town Blazers jersey anyway. Number 7 Brandon Roy!! What what!

haha, true, and there's always the thunderbirds, haha, at least going to their games is affordable. the storm are still here too, they were sold to local ownership.

What is it with the westside and sports? First you lose Junior, and the Big Unit, the Hawks should've lost Alexander and didn't... now you're losing entire franchises? Next thing you know, Starbucks will start to shut down... oops, sorry, too late there too.

last time i checked, the mariners won 116 games without junior, randy and arod, the hawks seem to have a stronghold on the western conference, and the NBA has been a joke since jordan retired (the real time, wizard thing didnt count). as for starbucks, i really couldn't give a damn...so go back to spokane or wherever, you probably have a KKK meeting tonight.

The Sacramento Kings are likely about to play their last game tomorrow...
How are those who miss the team feeling? I hate the NBA after the bullshit that went down against the kings in 2002, but still... in Sacramento, the Kings were the only ticket in town... and gave tons of Civic Pride. Imagine Portland losin the Blazers. it's about that crazy to me.
And to Anaheim of all places... rub salt in the wounds why dont you...

They were not that great in Seattle so i am not complaining to much, although the games were very fun to go to, I miss that.

I think the Key Arena misses them, some of the businesses around Seattle Center probably do too. Aside from that I don't think many people are missing them, especially those that live in the lower Queen Ann area. UW basketball is more entertaining then the Sonics were anyway.

The Sounders more then make up for it.

That makes me sick. Not that I ever cared about the Sonics...

But I have to say that David Stern is an asshole, and will probably insist the Kings move later this week.

Yeah, having the sounders is cool and all for sure. At least when they are winning, that is, qwest will be raging...
Seattle's a bit different though. It's got every other sport other than BBall and Hockey.
Sac has NOTHING, and this is where all the civic pride was poured into.
It would be insane if an MLS team came to Sacramento though... if Colombus can have one...

Funny thing is the Sounders are really mediocre. Big enough bandwagon that you could probably see the Red Sox bandwagon in the near distance.

MLB has 26% of teams in the playoffs

MLS has 55% of teams in the playoffs

EVERYBODY IS A WINNER. GOLD STAR

yet in both the MLB and the MLS there is only one winner at the end of those playoffs.

Funny thing is the Mariners passed the mediocre level years ago, they are hoping to work back to that level. And sounder games are a blast, mariner games... not so much.

I agree... baseball games are a snoozer...
soccer is always moving, never stopping, and, in seattle? its 38k fans going absolutely mental for it. It's awesome.

i miss the sonics...i guess too many of the people in this thread dont remember the 90s or most of their existence, but they were a good team, just failed under the new ownership (hmmm, ploy to drive down attendance?) and were mediocre under shultz after trading away our franchise player (except the 04/05 season). and do people really think all the portland hipsters would even know the blazers left town?

I remember, just like I remember when the Mariners were good, I didn't care then either. I don't remember caring in 2005 or 2006 when the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl.

as yoda would say "try not, do or do not"

true not caring only occurs when one does not even realize it is happening, just like a true hipster only happens when his ear plugs are bigger than his asshole.

So Clay Bennett is charge of the relocation committee. With that, I'd say the Kings' days in Sacramento are indeed over. Sucks for them, but the NBA blows.

the funny thing is that the NBA isn't unredeemable, new leadership could change everything. Stern has too much power and based on his current fining and arrangements is scared he's gone loose his piggy bank when the CBA expires this summer...if the players union votes no confidence in him and holds out till a new commish is elected then you could see drastic improvements in a downward spiraling league. including less star/big market favoritism in reffing and coverage. in the meantime we should just root for the nuggets as they are his ultimate nightmare, a mid market team with zero stars.
