No More Sal Masekela

he is a tool and simple makes a snowboarder doing a method air look like the hardest move ever, not to mention he is annoying and uses the gayest terms such as sham-wow!
 
he seems to know hardly anything about freeskiing, but i like that he let mike help him out, instead of pretending to know what he was talking about. he knows a ton of shit about almost every other sport in winter and summer x.

he doesn't know shit about skiing and he sounds like an idiot quite often but good luck finding another announcer that knows so much about so many random extreme sports.
 
sal is pretty bad..... but mike douglas takes the cake. that fucking dumb shit doesn't know anything. he calls so many tricks incorrectly and just says the stupidest comments you could possibly think of. i honestly put on other music and mute my TV to avoid hearing his idiotic fucking comments. seriously put that guy back in the attic, he's done with.
 
Sal is the man he's one of the best parts of X-games, it like watching Hot Dog you know its a shitty movie but you love it anyways
 
x-games just wouldn't be the x-games without sal. do u really need somebody telling you all the details n what not accuratly. I would rather listen to sal try to coin phrases and say ridiculous shit.
 
It's just annoying when he goes ballistic claiming the "first back to back gold from any athlete, male or female" when Tanner won back to back...to back golds in pipe. Maybe he was only talking about snowboarding, but he never specified.
 
sal is the fucking man, the xgames wouldn't be the same without himsure he's a gaper but he's a huge part of the xgames
 
sal's a mad good announcer, he knows what hes talking about, what i dont get, is kier dillon announcing now, hes still a pro snowboarder, but he doesnt even do x games or olympic training or anything anymore
 
I watched sportscenter this morning, and White was number 1 on the top 10...The announcer said that history was made when Shaun White was the only x-games athlete, male or female, to ever go back to back gold in superpipe. No mention of snowboarding anywhere, just superpipe. I watched it twice just to make sure
 
Todd Richards > Sal > Mike Douglas
Todd keeps it light hearted, focuses on style and not hype, and generally knows what he's talking about.
Sal also keeps it light hearted and doesn't try to pretend to know stuff that he doesn't, but gets brought down by things that disney/abc/espn make him say to build up hype and drama. He seems like an alright guy to me.
Mike puts out this 'I'm right, you're wrong'/'I'm better than you'/super serious/assholeish vibe when he announces. I'm not a fan.
 
i actually like douglas and if youre gonna say sals been around for a while douglas has been around longer and he only been around skiing
 
theres this kid in a david suzuki commercial where all the kids are sitting in a treehouse about to get viciously raped by david, and he's wearing some baller oakleys on his head for no fucking reason
 
i know he is so fucking annoying he doesn't ski board or do anything but of course he has to pretend that he knows what he's talking about by saying "dumont went HUGEEEEEE!"
 
i agree and he gets a little to happy with the 'MEGA MO" he started laughing hysterically every time they used it
 
Sal had to wait in line next to me at a club in Aspen a few days ago. He was LIVID that the bouncers didn't know who he was and wouldn't let him in. A manager came out and let him in several minutes later, but I thought he might kill somebody if he had to stand outside any longer.
 
I can't say I've ever liked the guy.. and he used to annoy the shit outta me back in the day, but that's a valid point. who's better? who else can do what he does? who knows more about the genre of sports? find me some one, and convince me they're not a tool, and then I'll agree.
 
He isn't that bad, and remember that ESPN caters to the GENERAL PUBLIC, not NEWSCHOOLERS.COM, so even if Sal is really knowledgeable about skiing, he would still have to talk like a dumbass for the average viewer.
 
I got the feeling that the announcers thought the name megamo was dumb and said it like that in a sarcastic tone.
As for Sal, he has a surf and snowboard background and worked at transworld for awhile. Again, he seems like a good guy, and I think he does a good job.
 
That's a pretty good post for a noob like yourself, i agree that the announcers probably thought MEGA MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO was retarded, and were just joking around, although it did get a little ridiculous, not that that ever happens on NS (cough) FULL TILT (cough).

and as far as it goes with the PK Simon debate. Simon once again shows how business savy and smart he is. He knows that a portion of the votes are coming from 14 yr old snowboarders and 35 year old gaper dads so he did what he knew would appeal to them.

clearly you've never seen Xgames Classix.... all the commentary is filmed while Sal is riding. He's not great but not terrible either. Slope talents aside, I've met the guy and he is mad chillin and busts his ass learning the infinite amounts of trivial shit about all of the sports. Plus he's black, giving him street cred. As far as having to wear goggles and stupid shit like that, so not his choice; I think producers generally get off making people look like fags.

i am with you 100% i hate that fuckin deusche bag, hes always decked out in the freshest gear and the only time he moves his fat ass is every 6 months when winter and summer x games rolls around so that he can announce a sport that he has never participated in and does not know the first thing about. fuck sal maskela.
 
hey mike did a pretty good job this year im really glad he called out the dub front for what it was. best year announcing so far i dont think we should have to cater to gapers all the time.
 
word but i still like Sal he seems like a chill dude to smoke a doob with, and he gets kids stoked on our sport/ snowsports in general.
