No more James Bond

the last one was actually closer to the way bond was originally intended to be.

I'm sure its just a matter of time until someone else picks up the franchise and makes some movies. There's plenty of money left in bond, but i just think they need to change things up for a little bit.

That's a bummer. Daniel Craig was a good Bond, even though the writing and directing in Quantum of Solace was pretty weak. I doubt MGM will sell the franchise until the bitter end, so it'll probably be a while before another film gets greenlit.

none of the new james bonds were good anyways.

and i heard they had sean connery cloned during his bond era, then cryogenically frozen so when the real connery dies, they have a fresh one to keep pumping out bond hits when everybody least expects it.

I read about this shit a while ago, I don't think that the Bond franchise is actually "over." MGM is bankrupt as fuck and is basically too broke to do anything, what they're waiting for is a reasonable offer from another company to buy them out, once that happens then they can resume production of Bond and whatever other movies.

That sucks. Bond will die another day though. It's only really the immediate future that will be Bond-less, because of MGM's bad finances.

Give it a few years and I'm sure we'll see Bond back on screen. Probably with a different Bond though, which is a shame because Craig has been the best Bond yet IMO.

Pretty sure Daniel Craig is awesome as Bond. Not as cool as Connery or classy as Moore were but still badass.

This blows! James bond was sweet!

I kinda wish they'd ended on Casino Royale cause that was awesome - Quantum was just shit and such a downer as the last film.

so folks, the lack of knowledge in here is disturbing.

daniel craig and timothy dalton were pretty much the only bonds who were somehow in line with what ian fleming wrote/wanted. a tough, egocentrical agent who doesnt care too much about girls/politics or even his orders.

brosnan, moore and connery are just to soft and charming for a "real" bond, although all three of them will always be associated as the prototypical bonds.

Craig killed bond, the movies just didnt fit in with the bond series. Ive always been a big bond fan, and this really sucks, i wish they at least went out on top.

Craig revitalized bond. the last two, Casino more so than Solace, started a completely new franchise that was much more in line with todays culture. Casino Royale did to Bond what Batman Begins did to Batman.

I personally didn't like the way Dalton acted (like, talentwise for Bond) and the stories written for him weren't the greatest either.

This is exactly how I feel about Daniel Craig playing Bond.

I do not dislike Daniel Craig in other films, its just him portraying James Bond that bothers me. I did not enjoy the last three Bond films one bit, maybe I am just old school.

I didn't read the whole thread but James Bond is not over. Someone will buy the rights if MGM/UA can't pull themselves out of this hole. Also, Daniel Craig is the best Bond in my opinion. He is the closest to the Bond of the books though that is in no small part due to the way he has been written. I have been looking forward to this next movie where he sort of becomes the classic Bond but without all the stupid little gadgets that have plagued the series as well as still being a it tougher. Guess it will be longer than expected.
Also, how can anybody really hate Craig as Bond. The series had gotten so stupid with Brosnan's most recent films that I had almost given up on the series entirely until "Casino Royale".

FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

i love how the movies have become way more badass and not just crazy out of this world gadgets.

brosnan was the best, or craig.
thats the worst news ever, not only that but the hobbit too which would have been amazing

Can somebody PLEASE, PLEASE, make one of those "Hitlers reaction" video with the subtitle for this subject?

For me personally all the really REALLY out there gadgets for me ruined the Brosnan Bond flicks. He played a good Bond but the shit they had Q coming up with (and don't get me wrong the interaction with Q was awesome) were just a TAD bit too over the top for me.

yeah, but somehow i think the other bonds (=prototypical, with Q, moneypenny, 2 lovescenes, etc) are watered versions of what fleming expected and dalton was more working in that direction, whereas the movies with craig "omitted" a lot of stuff that was kinda overemphasized if you remember what the author thought.

i like the old bonds with all that stuff, i am just saying that craig (with the "new" style of movies) made a "purer" bond alltogether while dalton did (consciously or not) a better job in portraying bond (while the other stuff was still all over the place) as a tough agent.
