No jibbing at brighton

we hiked up to the bone yard today..and immediately got kicked out by a bunch of guys..they told us they would have a sheriff up there giving out trespassing tickets if we tried to jib anything..super lame day.

I love how a mountain being responsible = lame or ridiculous. Only on NS.

I'm not at all surprised. Shit. I'm actually surprised they let it happen at all. Sounds like an insurance nightmare to me, and they're acting like any legitimate mountain would/should. What happens when some kid breaks a leg and their parents try to sue Boyne or something like that. Think about it. They've got to cover their ass here.

I'm not saying I agree with it, but there's a reason why no other mountains let that shit fly.

haha fuck off dickcheese. Get sued. Then come back and call me a pussy. I'm sure you'd do whatever it takes to cover your ass from ever getting sued again.

Immature little pricks like you are what make America suck. And more specifically NS. Go fuck yourself. Then grow up. I didn't say I agreed with their actions, just understanding why they made a move like that. Maybe one day you'll understand. Maybe.

But probably not.

I think Brighton is also owned by the National Forest Service, so sueing brighton would be hard. I think anyone can hike brighton at any time.... it's the fact that they leave rails out that's irresponsible of them. They know that people will jib them... take the ten minute to chain them all up, or even move them to a different spot to avoid the problem.

I will say it... Brighton is one of the most poorly run ski areas ever. I hate that place and it's vibe.

From what I understand it's similar to the arrangement at Alta. They lease the land from the forest service, that's why they close early. The lease runs up. Same as Alta. Hiking is way different than hitting boxes that the mountain leaves laying around.

Boyne resorts is definitely accountable for leaving that shit laying around if someone gets hurt. Those aren't the forest service's rails/boxes.

im fairly positive that their whole beef is not with someone getting hurt and suing them, but more so with all the people being inconsiderate and not picking up their garbage...

dude it's people with your mindset that really grind my gears, WHAT THE FUCK happened let letting people have fun with their youth? 30 years ago opening a fire hydrant was a fun thing for people to do, now its a class C felony. People need to be accoutable for their own goddamn actions, suing is ruining everything and I fucking hate it. And I got kicked out today as well as many and it's becuase they think kids are littering and not putting Brighton's property back where they found it.

My mindset? Did I ever say I would sue someone? Fuck no. I'm just saying, most corporations have to cover their asses. The sad reality is that a lot of people do find it necessary to sue.

Are kids littering up there? Kicking a bunch of kids out for littering and moving their shit around sounds like an even more legitimate reason than because of liability. If kids can't respect their property enough to clean up and put things back, then how can you be mad about being kicked out? Sure it sucks. But a little bit of respect goes a long way. Sorry if you don't like my mindset. I feel it's pretty rational and in touch with reality.

you are mad at the wrong person, its the people who sue people you are trying to be mad at, but you are failing miserably getting mad at the kid who is simply aware of the situation.

and how can you be mad about getting kicked out? It's crazy they ever let it happen at all those boxes are so expensive, plus the forest service would obviously not approve of them letting people litter.

I know... that's what i'm saying to you.

I don't think they can give you a trespassing ticket... and it's irresponsible of Brighton to leave the boxes out if they don't want them hit. It's like putting a basketball goal in a park but telling people not to use it.

If Brighton doesn't want people hitting them instead of giving out trespassing tickets just fucking chain them up or something. problem solved.

I agree that they should just chain them up if they dont want us to use them..the boxes that were out were really old and beat too..the terrain park director told us it was ok we were jibbing them on the first day too..i think the garbage was more of an issue.

The minute your jibbing on their property you are trespassing, they can't do anything as its national forest land for hiking. usually you can't hike on the leased land so possibly their lease finally came into play. as for littering, I can't say I blame them, if people can't be adult enough not to pick up trash they brought in, would you think they are adult enough not to sue or break your shit? at least they were cool enough to wait until other resorts opened.

it doesn't matter. skiing sucks and brighton sucks even more.

speaking of which, just go shoot basketball goals and quit skiing.

Has anyone tried going over the past few days? I've been home on fall break but i'd really like to keep skiing when i get back to utah

the people i talked to were pretty adamant that we didn't come back to hit rails so as long as you stick to the national forest you're fine, but how much snow there is is up in the air.

Went up yesterday and got about an hour in before we go the boot. Don't go to solitude cause they won't let you (we tried). Just stick to guardsmans and Alta. But speaking of guardsmans, does any one know who chained up the good urban style rail?

i believe all of the chained rails are jp walkers however i also think that chain has been cut and rails are scattered.

that sucks about brighton....
but were getting new snow tonight so is anyone from the U going up to gaurdsmens tomm? Im dying to go and im down to pitch in money for gas

We should get something planned out. I probably have to work til 2. Maybe I could get out a bit earlier. I can fit up to 3 people in my SUV, with skis/boards. 4 people if we're packed in.

Im down to go tomorrow afternoon and can show you where guardsmans is and some rails in exchange for a ride from the U.

Guardmans is up Big Cottonwood, drive almost to Brighton and you will see a sign saying to turn left. Welcome to Guardsmans.

spend 5 mintues hiking anywhere i guardsman that has snow and looks like a good area for a rail and you will find rails. or JP rails, follow the orange arrows. They are locked up or so I have been told
