Dont read this if you dont like reading long things.

and i was going to ask for the haters to stay out but whats a rant without people hating on your oppinions.

Ok to everyone whos doesnt wear a hlemet:

Dont be a jackass, wear a fucking helmet! i dont understand why you dont wear one, is it really fucking worth it? I know all your gay fucking excuses like "i always do this stuff, its easy to me. I dont need a helmet for it" well shit happens, you could have done it 100,000 times perfect but on the 100,001 time you could catch fuck up and hit your head and screw up your season or your fucking life. and dont be like"oh it makes my head look big" What the fuck are you, a fucking girl? well thats what you sound like, "oh does this make me look fat?". And who the fuck was playing fashion police when thier like " oh helmets arnt cool" who ever they are are fucking dumb.Sure style is a good thing but if it comes to fucking up your life who cares, just put on a damn helmet and save you, your family, and the ski resorts the fuckong trouble and put one on. Think about it, if you fall and hit your head you could get off lucky and

A-get a miled cuncussion(sp?),

B-get a serious concussion(sp?) and forget everything you fucking know(i will share a small story later),

C-fucking get a bad injurey and end up a fucking vegetable living off of machines for the rest of your life, and go into a coma.

D-or just plain and simple DIE.

Think about all of those options and think about the consiquences(sp?)

A- nothing serious happens, your parents get worried and you get a bad headache and bump on your head.

B- you are helicoptered out of the resort, get sent to emergency. You dont remember your friends, brother, sister, cousins, mom, dad and the rest of your family. You forget most of the shit you were doing in school resulting in you having to relearn 1 or 2 years worth of shit. years of priceless memories go down the drain.Your parents are crying and put through fucking hell because you dont remeber them. and the resort possibly gets sued.

^^so you just fucked yourself over, your family and possibly the resort.

C- Well speaks for itself really, your parents/ relatives are crying because they will never know the same son( or daughter) again, they never get to talk to you again, and you never get to talk to them again, Instead they get to watch your vitals pop up on a screen beside the bed where you lye unconsious.(if your in the USA) they are also stuck with all those fucking expensive medical bils. the resort might again get sued.

^^ again you fuck your self over, you fuck your parents and realtives over, and possibly the resort.

D- Again speaks for itself. You DIE! your parents are again going through even more hell, mourning over there loss(same with relatives) they have to pay for an expensive funeral and well bury there child, which no parent should have to do. and again the resort might get sued.

as you can see none of these scenarios are good. so again just do everyone a favor, forget the fact you look stupid in a helmet( if its that important spend the extra $$ ona stylish helmet) and just wear one.

I am actually pretty proud of the fact that i 95% see skiers wear helmets(even the pros, they basically always wear helmets), but i practically never see anyone who snowboards wearing a helmet, the pros never touch them unless they have to and the only time i really see snowboarders with helmets is when there under the age of 13 after that there to cool for them.

2 years ago my cousins best friend was just boarding down a run doiong some carves( no jumps, boxes, rails etc...) caught an edge and fell head first onto a patch of ice. She was no beginner either at the time of the accident she had been snowboarding for 5 years. Should had been heli boarding before and can easily do any black or double black diamond. After the accident she forgot EVERYTHING, she didnt remeber her friends(even her closest ones) ,what school she went to ,what city she lived in, and last but least her family, her parents and everything. It just goes to show you that no matter how many times youve done something or how good you are, you can still fall and get fucked up.

WEAR A FUKING HELMET.

end of rant.

yeah i need to get one.

people are dumb tho. i don't even wear a helmet when i longboard and thats fucking way more dangerous than skiing. i will admit that almost 100% of every hour i'm alive i'm a complete idiot when it comes to safety.

but soon i will fix these things.

plus, people won't wear helmets unless they are required to. which wouldn't be a bad idea for any mountain to do.

think about motorcycles and bikes. people still don't wear helmets unless there are helmet laws like we have here in washington. but it just goes to show you that people are complete retards. it's nothing to get worked up about.

I feel comfortable without one. I don't want to wear one. I ski knowing that what I am doing is dangerous. Just like driving, eating lots of greasy french fries, and working construction. You gotta fuck up huge for anything past A to happen. Of all like 10 people I ski with regularly none wear helmets and there hasn't been a head injury yet. Not saying there is no risk, just that I don't want to wear one/.

This weekend I fell on a really small jump, and I dont even remember hitting it, the first thing I remember hearing is hearing "Youre in first aid, and youre gonna get to ride in an ambulance" I was still dazed then and had no idea what was going on. Next thing I know EMT's the ambulance say I get to ride in a helicopter. Head injuries are really fucked up because it doesn't even feel like half of that day happened. Thank god im insured because I cant imagine what both of those trips cost.

It turns out I hit my head hard enough to have a seizure, was unconscious following my episode. I also messed up my rotator cuff. I got lucky though because...

I WAS WEARING MY HELMET

and I was in and out of the hospital, and I will be able to ski after I get some tests done.

wow man glad to hear you're aight. that sucks though but good deal on the helmet front.

Hitting your head isn't the only worry, I've seen someone killed and someone else completely fucked up through no fault of their own by someone else skiing into them. Shitty fact of life is you can't always protect yourself from others.

i can tell you that if C or D happen, it wouldn't matter if you were wearing a helmet or not. i wear a helmet most days. lately i haven't been as much cause i'm teaching my girl to ski. which means skiing groomers all day, but at least it's black and i'm getting good as fuck skiing switch. anyways, wear your helmet if you want. if you don't, don't. simple as that.

everyone understands that and it's rediculous to think that since it won't save you in all scenarios then don't wear a helmet.

they are safer. which means more years of skiing.

thats like saying, "we're all gonna die anyway fuck it" people should really wear helmets.

i used to hate wearing a helmet, but now ive relised that skiing without one just isnt worth it. I landed on my head 3 weeks back when i dislocated my hip, im so lucky i was wearing a helmet, without one i would have been seriously hurt, apart from my hip, my head would have being fucked too. There was no blackouts or anything, but my brother told me i was a good 20ft above the ground, straight onto my high back/neck/head area on flat ground. I was so lucky, and glad that i wore my helmet.

So basically, wear one.

not neccesarily true. I know a guy who ate it off a cliff drop and flew head first into a buried rock. He shattered a vertebra, and had it reconstructed using bone from his hip, which was replaced with cow bone. Without the helmet he would have been killed. He's now completely fine, but had to spend a few months in a neck brace, and had to quit playing football, but considering the severity of the accident, it's incredible that he's even still walking. He definitely knew what he was doing, but it just takes that one wierd landing (which everyone has) and some bad luck to make a bad landing turn into a life threatening crash.

no doubt. depending on what you ride wearin one is the right thing to do. but 85 percent of the people i see wearing them dont need em. and also inliners and skatboarders hit crazy gnarly features and no one wears a helmet.......

hey what? I was saying that to mean you SHOULD wear a helmet, as a message to all the people who reckon they're ok without one just because they're just skiing groomers or whatever

I don't think that people choose to not wear helmets because they are not stylish to them but just because they are a little less comfortable than not wearing one. I'm suprised everyone doesn't wear them tho since all the pros wear helmets and people buy the jackets and pants that the pros wear so i don't understand why they don't sacrifice their comfort to be like the pros since that what they are into. Helmets are cool and when i got mine it made me feel more secure to go way big.

i agree with most of the things u said, on powder days i dont feel like wearing a helmet tho, i always will in the park, but on pow days it doesnt seem necessary to me

man u dont know anything about concusions i got a very seveare one on tuesday and im fine like i couldnt go to school or aynthing but ure fine after a few days rest u dont forget everything, and man let ppl do what they want why does it matter if they do or not it doesnt effect you

read what you just wrote.

slow down when you post.

But he's right, helmets aren't a bad thing at all. They can save your life so idk why kids still dont wear them

yeah i know several people that have had their lives literally saved by helmets. the helmets all shattered, but kept the crashes from being fatal. if your just screwing around on a little hill, it doesnt matter, but if your doing bigger stuff, go for the helmet.

you shouldn't bitch about what other people do. wear a helmet if you want to.

baby doesn't like people not wearing helmets? :_(

suck it up, its not like its your head anyways.

writing a 6 paragraph scare tactic and going through every possible scenario complaining about what other people wear or dont wear is being a baby.

you dont give two shits about where your tax dollars go in that sense, are you saying all snowboarders should wear wrist guards because you dont want to have to pay for their medical bill when they break their wirsts? everyone should stop caring about what everyone does, it doesnt affect you in the slightest way. You can still fuck your head up just as good with a helmet on either way threads like this are pointless no one needs to hear your PMS induced thoughts

there is one in an issue of last years Skiing mag, but either way helmets loose most of there affectivness past 15mph, I can tell you that you are most likely skiing past 15mph everywhere on the mt. Stop worrying about how people live their lives, you got bigger problems to worry about, like how your going to tell your parents you've gone faggot

you are able to wear a helmet.

you are able to not wear a helmet.

that's the beauty of freedom, people can do what they want. you cant force them to protect themselves and not die from something preventable

sorry i forgot my work cited page teacher, google it yourself bitch, do a little research, but i know my docotor (who is one of the best in the field for head trama and has written many papers and articles about concussion and the like) has told me helmets loose most of there affectiveness towards preventing concussions after 15 or 20mph, so very low number, wither way its besides the point, where your helmet if that helps you sleep at night, but if others decide not too, dont go bitching about it

haha man ure tax dollars that r invested in health care are there weaher or not some kid gets a concusion, like it doesnt matter if u think ppl shoudl wear a helmet or not, i wear a helmet and could care less if the person next to me in the park does it their problem not mine, and i dont lose any money and im sure if i took a year an calculated it out like 1% of my tax dollars is put to use on someone that should of been wearing a helmet but i stil dont give two shits

you're getting annoying with this

those laws get broken all the time. i stand by my statement that you can't force people to be safe.

gone for real this time

your really way to into this, its stated perfectly above you, you can't make people do things, there is no way you are going to change what others think, so why dont you worry about your sorry ass instead

ahh im in the same boat as you buddy concussions suck, but anyways I wear a helmet, i just dont give two shits about if the person next to me on the lift is or isnt, and the reason nomen isnt out partying is not due to the fact he has to wake up early for a tour, because lets be honest we are all skiers, we can party our asses off till sunrise and still be the first one on the chair, but because he drove all of his friends away with his insecent nagging about how they shoulld all wear helmets

yea but just by looking at the name everyone realises that it doesnt effect them and its their own decision, not an argument

its newschoolers not the debate club, do you really expect me to come up with a clear thought out argument, or to make immature comments about your sexuality? come on youve been on here long enough to know that, now go rest up for your tour tomorrow, ill send your mom over to tuck you in
