Title is click bait duh.

I’m not saying there are no cool ski events Anymore. But like fuckkk. Where did the money and drive go?? Andy and the rest of the line guys are doing amazing things with TAFT and actually giving back to the community. And Kimbo sessions by umpiring a world of stoke and hope for upcoming skiers. But what’s up with all these little weird ski neiches. Where is all the money and hype from back in the “golden age” a lot of people will try to say “well it just won’t be like that again” but look at where skiing is. Shit is insane. No one could have predicted it to explode with the skill that kids these days now have. So where is the support for these kids within the skiing community? What happened to all those red bull events seanP used to put on. (Similar to natural selection on the boarders side.) natural hits and shit!

anyway I’m not bothering to proofread this. So if anyone makes it through that congrats! I woke up pissed about skiing and wrote a little about it. If anyone wants me to follow up lmk. If not enjoy that jiberish.

Because the industry realized bum park skiers like us aren’t where the moneys at. The rich trail clone dads and tourists are the ones with the money. It costs a ton to build and maintain big parks or really well setup smaller ones for these events. Loved watching the walnuts rail jam to bad it didn’t happen with covid : (

I back. But that being said where are the backcountry events? Those are the people actually making money in the sport. However they seem the least stoked on actually putting money back into skiing. Wether it be from their own pocket or not.

That’s what the Dumont cup used to be every year, until Dumont stopped skiing in 2015 of course. I never competed because I was in like 6th grade at the time but there was an open division I believe where someone got a spot in finals. I remember seeing Henrik thrown down once and it was probably the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. I hope more similar comps can make a return.

I think the production for the Peace Park event should get blown up to like 10x the hype, like bigger than fucking X Games... then make it a super inclusive touchy feely hippy music kind of thing.

Also, you know how some resorts have a free reggae/jam band concert series in the spring? Merging those days with a free entry public comp qualifier series.

Also, you know how some resorts have a free reggae/jam band concert series in the spring? Merging those days with a free entry public comp qualifier series.

I mean it's been blowing up pretty big. They branded the fuck out of it and powdris pounding it out. Honestly it's pretty sick, parks look awesome across the country and it's cool to see it expand. I remember 2 years ago whem Boreal had the public day in may it was. Super busy but everyone was shredding. Really solid vibes

They're doing a good job and it's growing. Good for powdr.

USASA and similar groups ruined small events. The people at resorts who typically run competitions are like "oh it's a governing body AND there's points just like FIS and all the ski races I care way more about? dope!" and then don't bother setting up there own events because they don't see the difference. Can't really blame them either, running events is hard. Get involved if you want to see a change op

I'm real bummed COVID ruined events this year, had some real cool ideas planned that are gonna have to wait till shits back to normal

Peace park at killi was quite possibly the coolest and most fun park I’ve every skied even if you aren’t hitting the jumps or hips you can just surf with all the trannys and pipes you can slash
