NLL 2008 Season cancelled!!!

because the players association and the league couldn't come to an agreement. (same thing that happened to the NHL a couple years ago)

ya thats stupid. im a lax player and i dont know much about the situation, but i think its retarded how this is happening in lax because there is no money in this industry anyway. why would the players be demanding money that they dont even have?

Meh...i dont like the NLL, theyre trying to make it into like entertainment, and lacrosse should be entertaining, but with all the cheap shots and shit like that it is just gay. Its just not how the game should be played, not too many of those guys even like switch hands in the games its ridiculous. I like the MLL better...

wow that is whack, it was just getting so popular, they were getting new teams across the country, well college lax is still ill

DENVER – The Colorado Mammoth will not take the field in 2008 after it was announced Tuesday morning that the National Lacrosse League has cancelled the entire season.

The Mammoth says the cancellation was triggered by the Professional Lacrosse Players Association's executive committee rejecting the league's last collective bargaining agreement proposal.

"I would like to apologize to our fans, first and foremost," NLL commissioner Jim Jennings said in a statement. "We are deeply disappointed that the PLPA's executive committee rejected our proposal without permitting all of the players to vote on the league's final offer. The offer included annual raises for all players in each year of the contract. Our owners made the best offer they could make while maintaining a sound business model."

"Colorado's fans have been the best in the league since the day we got here and we are incredibly disappointed to let them down. We're going to fix what is broken and come back stronger than ever," said Colorado Mammoth general manager Steve Govett in a statement.

The Mammoth won the NLL Champion's Cup in 2006 and has ranked among the top two in attendance for the league since it began playing in Denver in 2003.

Jennings said this was the fourth time the league has had to negotiate a collective bargaining in the past seven years.

"Professional sports leagues cannot do business without the stability of a long-term collective bargaining agreement. We will use this year to improve not only our relationship with our players but to improve our overall business model," said Jennings.

Mammoth season ticket holders will receive a letter soon regarding additional sports options at Pepsi Center. They can also call their season ticket services representative at 303-405-1101.

i agree with you 100%. NLL is just like a bnunch of big idiots trying to kill each other.  lets actually get some skill and try to play outdoors where the gaME IS SUPPOST TO  be played.  indoor is a joke.. i mean for example you can have ur pocket as deep as you want it,,, and im not trying to brag but im good at lacrosse but not close to pro... give me a stick with a deep enough pocket and i can jumpin with those guys, buy MLL... no way

i was thinking the national little league. like baseball until i read a little. i didnt even know a national lacross league existed

Yeah.. i was bummed to find out. I loved going to the games in San Jose.

Hopefully the league doesnt get disbanded forever...

Nah I play D in box - it's better without long poles. I play attack in field just because I hate the feeling of long pole... plus it's way harder to handle in fakes and stuff with a long pole

maybe so... but i just find long pole so hard to use. Also, when I tried (I played long pole for a season) to do what you say and keep the ball out of their reach, my stick just got clipped and I lost the ball. I just like the ball close to me, cuz then I can keep it under control

Are you guys that are saying this even lacrosse players? The NLL is cool but its just a gimmick game. Its not even lacrosse other than the fact that they use lacrosse equipment.  People go to see fights and hits and shit. They don't go to watch lacrosse.  The MLL is where all the good players are and where the future of pro lacrosse is.  If you watched the MLL you would realize that the game is played very similarly to College Lacrosse.  Yea the NLL's season being cancelled is a blow to lacrosse and it sucks, but if you knew what you were talking about you wouln't be hating on the MLL.  And I do agree- college lacrosse is still the most exciting. But all of the players that are in college right now are going to be in the MLL in a few years.  At least the good ones.  So I don't get where you guys are getting these ideas.

^^2 things.

1. The season is back on...

2. I play and watch both. I think that there are good lacrosse players in both, and that both take different skills. Box lacrosse is a much scrappier game, and although there are more fights, you can't possibly say that they aren't good lacrosse players, nor that people go to watch fights and not the game. You are only saying that because you don't know, and you only enjoy MLL... I do know, I do enjoy both, and I know that you're wrong.
